YEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH NEW LUMINE SKIN
What are people's (substantial) takes on Milliastra Wonderland
Honestly I understand it from a business development perspective. Games with pretty good longevity and a loyal community have a few things in common, and one of those things is usually giving fans the means to create new in-game experiences (see Roblox, Baldur's Gate, Skyrim Creation Kit, etc.). Hoyo seems especially into showcasing fan creations (HoyoFair) and this seems like a strategic extension of that
I don't necessarily see it as Hoyo telling people to "do our job for us" lol (some ppl should open the Nexus Skyrim SE mods page hahahaha) but more of giving ppl wider opportunities to cultivate unique experiences with Genshin assets
I think some team over at hoyo bizdev is pilot testing this approach as another way to secure engagement from some players aside from a) gambling lawl and b) storyline and characters. But obviously it didnt land as well because of the paywalling
I guess my take is interesting direction? And honestly not at all left field. With enough pressure they'll ease up on the paywalling

Getting Him and his BiS is God's way of telling me I have no luck left for the week and will fail my econometrics midterm tomorrow
My personal take, but I am honestly incredibly emotional about the Genshin 5th year anniversary for a number of reasons, including being there on launch day and the joy of the journey
but most importantly because I always find it incredible when a game is a) able to invest and innovate in story, art, and music (the music!!!! probably the most diverse in gaming) while being able to b) continuously make money
Mannnnyyy story-driven and lore-driven triple A game franchises right now are arguably struggling. While you have one-offs from smaller developers like Baldur's Gate and Clair Obscur, the delay in TES VI, the slow death of my very beloved Bioware (fuck you EA) as well as Mass Effect and Dragon Age, etc. is a signal it is increasingly difficult to make long-winded story-driven single-player experiences vis-a-vis continuous revenue-generating games like Fortnite or Marvel Rivals under the grip shareholder capitalism has on gaming.
EA also signaled in their Q1 report this year that Dragon Age Veilguard did not do well not because of the story, but because it wasn't "live service," even though manyyy longtime fans were upset over weaker storywriting and limited choice consequences (i still loved it though)
ALL OF THIS IS FRUSTRATING because people do care about the story, the lore, the dialogue, the experience of art, regardless if it's live service or not!!!!
And I think if there's something to take away from Genshin's 5th anniversary it is possible to invest in art, music, lore, story, and other creative aspects without cutting corners for the sake of "shareholder value" . While Genshin is live service, it understands what players want, and so it invests in its narrative, characters, and overall player experience of the world as an art form
(A fate i wished for dragon age, and a fate im wishing for for all everyone's fave RPGs out there esp TES VI)
My jaw dropping when my lumine did 200k on her burst (pyro). Wiping the floor with childe LMAO I need that clip of him cleaning the house in a maid outfit for her and all
(how: crit dmg crimson witch set, lvl 90, mistsplitter reforged, melt react, citlali + bennett)
Buddy wants to take us to his house to "view his coin collection"
This is is a little too fast bro take me out to dinner and fight me in a no holds barred duel at the golden house first ✋️
idk i just love genshin bro. some people keep comparing now to their conception of a "peak genshin" but (as a day 1, launch day player in 2020) my take is that what's constant about genshin is change, and it's a privilege to watch the game change and experiment and evolve over the years.
- monstadt and liyue were a lovely introduction. that feeling walking into liyue harbor for the first time is UNMATCHED
- inazuma was a masterclass in design. Absolutely sobbed at everything abt Ei btw. Oh and that KAZUHA vision moment
- sumeru had that time loop thing that rlly rlly fucked with my brain. Nahida bro!!!!!!! Love her!!!
- fontaine was just heartbreaking and the unconvential ace attorney approach in what is essentially a fighting game for its final conclusion is such a ballsy but great choice.
- natlan was crazyyyy fun and the abyss war mechanic was amazing—reminded me of closing oblivion gates (TES) or rifts in the Veil (dragon age) like some of my favorite rpgs!
- Oh, and the music is lovely and among the most diverse in gaming and characters are voiced by your favorite VAs!
- The lore and the archon quest is expansive and makes me cry each time
Some regions have their strengths and weaknesses, but honestly it is a privilege in gaming to witness a game evolve and the mysteries of 5 years ago being slowly unraveled with each update!
idk childe is definitely going to be the kind of girl dad who will paint her nails but also hate the hair dye at 14 but will also murder her boyfriend if he breaks her heart
Why are we playing oblivion in natlan bro 😭😭😭
(tagging my tes/dragon age blog LOL @vintra-lavellan )
Happy Birthday, Childe! 🐳 🌟
Since we know that Childe and Lumine spent time together off-screen, which we don't get to see, and the evidence of that is from the Fontain Archon Quest and from Childe's yearly letters on his birthday. I wouldn't be surprised if she told him her next location.
We know that they had a sparring session and a fishing date
