i swear certain BBS youtubers need to stop saying that every single character with flurry/poise is viable for pvp or might be one of the top tier units.

pvp is a shit show right now when it comes right down to it and it’s created a situation in which there are like, 6 or 7 characters who are actually competitively viable across the board but like let’s be real, you need nnoitra.

lilinette isn’t going to hack it in pvp. i know it’s not like expressly written in the game where people can easily see it, but common pve killers like soul reaper, hollow, and arrancar are a 20% damage boost whereas captain killer and espada killer are 40% damage boost.

on top of that she has ranged collision on her nad string. ranged collision deals inconsistent damage, which means she’s not going to be doing as much damage as a melee flurry character does.

yes, she has a heal. unfortunately, VL ichigo exists as an option to shut her heal down. on top of it, the animation on her heal seems pretty long, and that might get her into some serious trouble when pvp is full of characters who have poise, which means her heal won’t stagger them, and she might end up in a position where she’s locked into the animation too long and gets whacked for it.

on top of all of that, she has no status ailments. status ailments right now are kind of important in pvp and are why a unit like nnoitra is more consistent in killing than VL ichigo is. if you’re running poise/flurry units in pvp, you’re likely using chappys on them, zeroing your spiritual pressure in the process. this kills 99% of the damage your special does, making a special from someone like VL ichigo basically useless if he’s the one who hits it.

on the flip side, characters like kenpachi and nnoitra proc weaken and paralysis respectively. that means getting the soul bomb is a victory for them the majority of the time as kenpachi’s weakening destroys defense and attack while nnoitra’s paralysis locks characters into place (and as most of us have probably experienced, set up for the stun lock, where nnoitra will continuously nab the soul bomb and continue to paralyze).

lilinette is an excellent pve unit, no doubt about that, but she’s not going to be truly competitive in pvp. she’s an option if you have no better characters, but she’s still going to have trouble standing up to the current meta even if they don’t have killer on her.

not like this sounds even the least bit believable because i don’t believe it either but like:

rolled 30% attack on a mind chappy with the hopes to get nnoitra on his release banner

did not get him on his release banner, was very sad

got mind zangetsu from warrior’s path for my VL ichigo

rolled 30% attack on a mind bawabawa, joked i wouldn’t get him

got him in 2 singles improbably on his re-release individual months later

used like 6 total brushes to roll his hogyoku to 30% attack

pulled tsukishima off of yammy’s individual banner

then pulled grimmjow off of a 4/5 star ticket from finishing new event orders

so short of pulling a gold chappy, nnoitra’s going to be perfect. i’m shaking.
