Sometimes I question what decisions I had to make in my life to reach a point where my mental health depends on a maniacal blond guy.

With the fanfics that I have read (specifically those of y/n x tommy taffy,that there have only been two), a small doubt has arisen.

WHY DOES THE PROTAGONIST HAVE TO BE THE CHILD?

And the thing is that the protagonist is not even an adult, he is literally still a minor or is only 18.

(I know 18 could be considered an adult age, but in the story specifically in "his name was Tommy Taffy" it is mentioned that Tommy looks like a 30-year-old adult, so yeah, it would still be weird in my opinion, and yeah, I know he may not have that age, but I don't think he's young either.)

Why don't they use one of the parents or an adult who has his "similar age"? That would make it less weird.

(Although well, these types of fanfics are already weird in themselves)
