Hel stopped short, abrupt and sudden. She turned to glower at her brother over her shoulder only a moment before she continues stomping on.
If he meant to stop her, it would be easy. Even as a man and not a wolf. Hel had always been smaller. Slower. The runt of their litter, childhood bullies had said. With far less kind anecdotes to follow.
But that was long ago and so far removed form the grown-up anger they both held. If he meant to stop her, he'd have to force it. Nothing and no one could stem the determined march of Hel as she followed where impulsive ire led. Not with words. Sharp as they may be.
