Sera missed out on a lot in what was considered the great milestones of a normal childhood, one of them being making a fort. It seemed simple enough as she gathered all that she thought she would need, scurrying back and forth with her arms full of blankets and pillows. After dragging four chairs out into the clearing one by one, the task was a lot easier.
Her decision to set it up outside came from remembering Gajeel’s comment about getting antsy staying under a roof too long. Not that she minded, having a shared preference for the night sky rather than a blank ceiling.
The sky was clear and the stars burned brightly against the black backdrop, alongside the warm, toasty yellows and burnt oranges of autumn, it was the perfect sort of weather just before the dull winter weighed down and bundled people off into their apartments. She stood in silence for a while, listening to the quiet sounds of the night before getting to work with a fierce determination.
Buzzing with excitement, she spread the comforter over the chairs, spending a few minutes attempting to center it just right. Tying blankets together, she secured the edges with heavy books. When she finished, Sera smiled to herself. It was haphazardly made, an odd assortment of different linens and sheets she had collected around her house but it came together nicely. She had even taken extra precautions to not use anything ‘girly’ that would deter the dragon slayer’s interest. Not bad for her first try.
After a bit of convincing, she managed to lead Gajeel to where she had set it up. "There’s enough space for the both of us!" she chirped, dropping to her knees and crawling inside. She lifted a wool blanket, freeing up a spot for the Iron Dragon to sit across from her. The light filtered just enough through the thin blanket so they weren’t in complete darkness, but a battery powered lantern glowed softly in the center. "I brought marshmallows for me and screws for you in case we got hungry."
