Falkner’s father is dead. It’s said that he was killed in an accident.
Falkner inherited the gym when he was 16. He has trained his entire life to take over when his father would eventually retire.
The fact that he helps out with practically everything in Violet City - from helping out at local shops if they’re short-staffed, to more major things such as helping out with keeping the peace in Violet City.
The pokemon he uses during Gym Battles for new trainers are the ones left behind by his father before his passing.

Falkner can be frequently found at the Sprout Tower, helping the Elders inside with whatever task needs to be completed.
He very rarely, if ever, takes breaks. He has to physically be dragged away from whatever he’s doing to take a break.

When he does take a break, something Falkner enjoys doing is Kendo. He typically practices away from the gym and practices with others he knows does it, as well.
His full name is Hayato Kazama. Falkner is more or less a name he’s given to himself after taking inspiration from his father, who called himself by a different name for the majority of his life.
Falkner’s knowledge of regions outside of Kanto and Johto are very limited.
On days he feels down, he can either be found sitting at the grave of his father, or sitting at the top of a nearby mountain.
He doesn’t know how to swim.
His dislike for electric types.
On the very rare occasion, Falkner will give out the badges to his gym to those he deems worthy of it without a proper battle. This doesn’t happen very often, those who do get a badge without a proper battle will typically battle him to prove to him that they were indeed worthy of it in a traditional fashion.
Falkner has a constant worry of not living up to his father - he worries constantly about making and keeping him proud of him.

He does not have a relationship with his mother, Tomoe Kazama. She passed away when he was still a baby, so he doesn’t know anything about her.
His Swellow was a Pokemon who once belonged to Tomoe.
There’s a special connection Falkner has with the legendary birds - Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. He has a closer bond with Articuno, though.
He allows Articuno to come and go as it pleases, not finding a need to capture it.
Falkner has a wonderful singing voice. He only sings to himself, though, when he knows he’s all alone.
Although his relationship with his father was great, loving, and every positive word you could possibly think of - Falkner was co-dependent. When he lost him, he truly didn’t know what to do with himself for a good while.
Falkner knows how to use a sword, and will use it if needed.
