I posted this in the OOC blog, but in case it gets buried, I wanted this here, too.

As you all may or may not know, I evacuated my home in Brunswick County, NC for Hurricane Florence. I initially went on hiatus until the 19th. I expected to be home by now. I didn’t know it would be as bad as it is.

All but a few small backroads to enter my home county have been washed out, blocked by trees and power lines. See this instagram post to see the failed dam in my hometown. These stills from drone footage show what my work looks like on Bald Head Island. My dad had a heart attack during the hurricane and is released from the hospital tomorrow, but there is no road out of the city he was taken to. So he has to stay with my mom’s boss. My sister is in Holly Springs, NC where she evacuated to. Who knows when she’ll be coming home.

The NCDOT says don’t travel the roads, but my evacuation party’s drivers aren’t listening lmao so I’m headed home tomorrow. I’m extending my hiatus through September 27th for now.. I have power back home but I’m not sure about wifi. And I’m honestly not too sure how hurricane Florence had affected me just yet. Mentally. Like, damn. I’m gonna need all the therapy after this shit. And it’ll probably be worse once I actually GET home and see the devastation. I may be busy looking for a new job in case my work is fucked up. I just. Don’t know what’s happening. Everything is up in the air and awful and I hate it.

Shit’s fucked at home right now. It’s truly post apocalyptic and seeing it up close…I’m not sure if I’m prepared. Or how my brain will process it.
