For @priestl1es
Both the Google Translate-like voice and the complete, sensory-less blackness Shen Yuan was hanging in faded out for a swirling kaleidoscope of colours and a screaming unease.
Something was wrong.
Something was wrong, wrong, wrong, wrongwrong---
Shen Yuan flailed. In the middle of that flailing, he realized the sensation of something being wrong wasn't his opinion. Or feeling. Whatever. Which! was! frankly! a lot more unsettling than the sense of something being fucking wrong to begin with, thank you! Torn between fighting against that sensation of wrongness that wasn't his and trying to soothe it, smoothing out the wild, surging something that was starting to fucking hurt, Shen Yuan landed on the ground with a wet splat.
"Interesting," someone commented above them, while Shen Yuan was busy shuddering, hoping to fuck whatever he lay in was water, or, at worst, mud.
Wait. Them?
His legs were tangled with someone else's. Not whoever had spoken, because that man was already leaving, but there was someone else right beside him.
With a shuddering wheeze, Shen Yuan rolled over, braced himself, and opened his eyes.
@wpon-x : hey webs , i cleaned our apartment
moonlight struck every rooftop like stadium spotlights, not quite strong enough to match dotted city lights. rows of apartment buildings lit up in glimpses, square frames only a glimpse of what was tucked further behind weathered brick. his own, which he’d expected to be dark upon dragging himself home instead beamed residual light from kitchenette. slight dread coiled in his chest mid-swing; he wasn’t strong enough tonight to deal with potential intruder who nabbed a snack on the way out. stuck the landing atop windowsill, audible thud.
something cut through his readiness, sharpened eyes losing their edge as a familiar voice beat him to any real investigating. sigh of relief pushed from his chest, sore frame immediately leaned against wooden frame now that he didn’t have to put up a fight. then, he slunk on through with remarkable silence despite how heavy his muscles felt.
" our- ? … y’know what- " speech carrying a slur to it, further indication of just how tired he was, awkward stagger paused so he could observe. he could see the floor, formerly disorganized coffee table now the opposite complete with matching mugs. shoulders slacked visibly with immense relief, his feet carrying him over towards rather confident frame. " it’s actually … really nice in here, wade. when did you-? " slightly thoughtless were his words, more curiousity than demand. the spider stopped short of his company, letting himself fall into sturdy chest with a loose arm around the waist for support. " real nice. " he repeated, putting more weight into deadpool’s like he couldn’t carry it alone anymore. " thank you. "

There's a long draw of silence, flcikering blood-red eyes seem to shine under the shadow his hoodie cast over his face.
"... Didn't anyone teach you it's rude to stare?" he pulls the hoodie farther over his face with dry, scabby hands.
"But I think I get it... I'd be scared, too... If i were in your position." Words bite like a threat.
[meta] muyang if his parents had not died. impact on his psyche / relationship with his duty / relationship with lingyun.
CHARACTER ASKS. | always accepting!
IMPACT ON HIS PSYCHE:
Having his parents alive is basically an unchanging Muyang. Someone who is warm, open and welcoming. There is a sense of youthfulness in his psyche, as opposed to the canon Muyang who is dull and jaded. He continues to be able to express himself very well; letting his expressions run free and articulating his feelings clearly with words.
He will be less opposed to openly helping people, because he has the capacity to care for others and himself as well. It is hard to care for others when you are grieving, the canon him throws everything out of the window including that aspect.
Though something that remains the same is that he will still continue to overwater in many aspects of his life. Love, affection, care and all that— it might be even more overbearing actually, since he does not restrict himself at all.
RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS DUTY:
A more positive and healthier relationship, that is for sure. Rather than an empty shell carrying out duties just for the sake of what he considers— a 'sin', Muyang carries it out because he has learnt to love what he does... just like his Father and Mother. The burden of their deaths and his inability to let go is what keeps current Muyang binded to his duty.
"They did it too, so therefore I will do it in place of them." is a mindset the canon him embodies. It is because he fears forgetting everything that defined his parents, he fears forgetting the memories he shares with them— in turn, forgetting their existence as a whole. It haunts him and so he clutches onto it like it is the only thing that matters in the world.
If his parents do not die, he does not fear anything— he becomes more fearless in any regard as years go by. Actually, I would even go as far as to say that if the original timeline for Guiying where he becomes mara-struck happens still, Muyang is less likely to hesitate because he does not doubt himself. He is still kind and loves Guiying too much to let him go, but doubts and trauma cloud the mind— and Muyang, with everything good in his heart still thriving, would make the right decision then and there.
RELATIONSHIP WITH LINGYUN:
Considering Muyang's parents' death originally occurred in between Chun + Ming-Yue ( Yunyun's Mother ) and Muchen's ( Yunyun's Father ) death— he would have confessed after some time following Muchen's death.
It isn't as long of a wait as canon Muyang and does not require as many catalysts to spur him into confessing. His parents being alive still would allow him to form the definition of love healthily and since I mentioned that he is rather fearless and open— he would do it very quickly. After all, they have been together for so long and he understands his emotions well. He wants to be with Lingyun and continue to be with him for a long time.

❛ I ‘never told my love’ vocally; still, if looks have language, the merest idiot might have guessed I was over head and ears. ❜
"Sounds like a whole lot of cowardliness, to me," she says, blinking back up to look at the stars. "If I were in love, the over-head-and-ears kind, then no one could ever stop me from saying it two, thirty, maybe thirty thousand times a day... You see, Bastion, this is where cowardliness gets you. Here you are, pining to this day for the he or she you never let know you were deeply in love with." She blinks his way again, wide-eyed, and with a fantastically narrative voice. "Doomed to relive the memories of your old love forever and ever until the day you die."
