Been out all day, but when I saw that reply on the mobile app I realised I never actually put Vani’s reason for her strong hatred of the human race.
I have said repeatedly, Vani is not human. She finds she gets along better with other non-human races. The human race, to her, is deplorable. They are the reason her race are called what they are. They have been called such for so long that not even the oldest of their race can remember what they were called previously. Given a halfling’s friendly nature and the mere fact that they are often more prone to simply talking something out than fighting, it is likely that they took to the new name simply to not cause too much of a fuss with what could be viewed as a much stronger race. Of course, there is always the odd being, much like Vani, who attempted to fight against or simply loathed the human race for pushing what could be viewed as a derogatory name upon the race simply because they looked like half a human.
This, of course, is not the only reason for Vani’s hatred. She has been called all manner of names -- Quarterling, child, squirt, dwarfling, ankle biter, runt, small-fry and shin licker to name but a few. She’s been kicked, pushed around, thrown, picked up, assaulted, even attempts on her life have been made. All because she was viewed as an easy target due to her tiny size.
Though there is also the simple fact that Vani hates everything (more or less) she just really hates humans.
