Katlin being introduced to hawking by her mother, Lady Bethany Rowan (née Redwyne).

Lady Rowan had been very fond of hawking throughout her life, a pastime passed onto her by her late step-mother when she'd been young herself. So when lady Katlin was six years old, already lively and restless, the Lady of Goldengrove brought her daughter with her and was very pleased to find the girl as taken with the activity as she was.
