It was barely a day after sleeping with Noel that Kate had sent him a long and rambling message about how what she had done was terribly wrong, how she had crossed far too many lines, and they needed to pretend like what they had done had never happened. After that, she ignored every one of his texts the rest of the weekend. Maybe it wasn’t the best way to handle this situation, but Kate didn’t know what else to do. She cheated on Matt. She had never done anything like that to anyone before, and the guilt was weighing on her so heavily she thought she’d be crushed by it. But, what was even worse, was... she didn’t really regret it. In fact, if she went back in time, she might even do it again. And what type of person did that make her?
Regardless, Kate still made it over to the bakery that her and Noel both frequented at her regular time. She knew she might run into Noel, and maybe she wanted to. Though she’d never admit that to herself. However, upon entering the bakery, she definitely hadn’t wanted to see Noel like that. He was sitting with some woman, both of them clearly having no qualms with PDA, ignoring their purchases from the bakery in favor of kissing each other instead. It wasn’t fair to be jealous over this. Kate was the one with the boyfriend, she was the one ignoring him, but still... she hated seeing him like this with another woman.
By the time Kate had bought her muffin, the woman Noel had been with had excused herself to go somewhere - she didn’t care to find out where. And she knew as soon as she had left the counter, she had accidentally made direct eye contact with Noel as she glanced over to try and assess the situation. “Hi there,” she gave him a tight-lipped smile, not doing very well at hiding her distaste for the situation. “You seem to have quite the appetite this morning, huh?”
