It’s still a bit early, but Johnny wants to try coming at a reasonable time for Ten. After all, he isn’t the only friend Ten has. The other boy would probably like to celebrate his legal adulthood by hitting the club or some other bullshit Johnny isn’t a fan of. He’ll take Ten out for some coffee and cake instead. He’s probably boring to Ten, but Johnny really tries. After all, Ten was one of the people most special to him.  

He leaves a gift for Ten with his friend’s mother’s loving hands. It’s too personal for Johnny to give in public. This one is something Johnny would rather surprise Ten with. It’s a song he suddenly came up with, inspired by the night Ten drunkenly visited him. It was supposed to be a spoken-word piece, but the other poets at the cafe told him it was better as a song. He’d rather let Ten hear it when he’s alone in his room. 

Attached to the gift is a note he’d written.

Hey Ten,

Happy birthday. I know I already gave you a present, but here’s another one. I know you’re not a fan of any of the crap I’ve written, but you were my muse for this one. This is also just my second time composing a full song. I didn’t give this one at the cafe earlier since I felt like it was way too personal. I just want you to know I meant every word I said/sang/wrote/whatever in that…

Anyway, I hope you like both gifts.

He also has one gift for Ten in tow, which he will give at the cafe. He shoots his friend a message as he waits in the living area.

- I’m at your house. - Get your butt down here. Otherwise, tell me where you are.

he’s just getting out of the shower when his phone goes off, almost vibrating itself off of the corner of his desk. it makes him jump at first, fumbling with the towel over his head for a second, correcting his somewhat clumsy footing, and hurrying over to pick it up. he stands with the towel still over his head, making him look a little like a nun, as he unlocks his phone and lets his eyes skim over the messages. 

a grin breaks out across his face and he hurries to clothe himself in the first things he sees, which happen to be ripped jeans, a sleeveless band t-shirt and his favourite red baseball jacket. he stumbles into his sneakers, wondering briefly why one was by his door and the other underneath his bed, before heading out to the living room. 

“johnny!” he exclaims as he hurries over to him, jumping up to hug him with his arms round his neck and legs round his waist - he expects, and trusts, johnny to catch him, or not fall over from ten’s sudden weight. “my first birthday visitor, and the best of them all, if there are any more coming.” there’s a slight laughter in his voice, though he isn’t too sure if anyone else will visit, though he doesn’t mind if he gets to spend his free time on his birthday with johnny. 

he leans back slightly, still attached koala style to his friend, and grins at him. “i’m really glad to see you. life has been far too stressful recently, so seeing you is a nice surprise. did you just stop by for a quick visit, or are you going to spend the rest of my birthday with me?” there’s hope in his voice as he asks johnny whether he’ll stick around or not - there’s no one he’d rather spend his birthday with.

Careful not to disturb him but a grin on his face regardless, Ace leaned over to brush a few curls from the blond's face before placing a kiss on his forehead. "Happy birthday, Sabo~"

The newspaper was easily put down, his attention now on Ace. He couldn't help the smile on his face and found his actions much too cute at this moment. He gave a quick peck on his lips, “Why thank you~”
