She peeked out, slowly. No sign of him to the left, nor to the right. Taking a deep breath, Clara ventured out to the courtyard, where she sat down at her favorite koi pond. Watching the fish always calmed her down.

He offered the tea, and she shook her head. She was already so warm. Meanwhile, she squinted at his hair color. It was even brighter than her mother's. Did he come from her kingdom? No, that was impossible. It was too tiring to think about.
She did perk up, however, at the mention of her beloved mount.
"His name," she said. "Is Flappin' Jack Flash. He's a pegasus..." Then, she looked forlornly toward the tent entrance. "I miss him. I hope...someone is taking him out every day."
"Well, it's this terrifying story."
Clara had started a new novel. "This village is infected with monsters that want to kill humans, but they can imitate humans, so it's hard to tell who is who unless you let your guard down and risk getting eaten! And humans can turn into the monsters. And on top of that, there is a famine, so everyone is tense and a little delirious from the lack of food..."
"I couldn't live with that kind of pressure. I think I'd just kill everyone."
