11. Kill or be killed: What will your muse do?

          Bated breath held her in place, slender fingers now wrapped around a weapon that she never would have imagined she would ever have to use let alone hold in her grasp. Carmine hues search her perimeter but little is heard and nothing is seen past the rain falling outside of the small shelter she had found. The tapping of the drops against the grated roof doing little to ease her heart but she had to take a moment to breathe lest she want to be exhausted so soon.

          Why was this happening? Her knowledge of the situation was vague but there was enough in hints to give her some idea. Her husband...even after their parting he was a monster. Of course, no less should have been expected but to call out a hit against her? Disgusting. Had she really angered him so much? After the years of torment, surely she deserved some peace to enjoy life with her daughter. Her precious Madelyn...was she safe? No, even someone like him wouldn't threaten the life of his own blood particularly if they were an heir.

          Lost in her thoughts, it took the steps outside for her to awaken back in to this twisted reality. Arms raised the weapon only to hear a similar sound towards her own position but most likely a precaution on her end than anything else. Teeth grit, beads of sweat form across her forehead, gaze like daggers through her very being.

          "He was a part of this, wasn't he..?" Finger tightens on the trigger. "You were all a part of this!"

          Green locks that she had grown familiar with were pushed against the other woman's form due to the downpour but her stance remained firm, focused. A clear contrast to the untrained blonde still shielding herself under the canopy. Agonising moments passed. Barely a blink given by either woman. She could do this. Pull on the trigger and this woman would be gone. For one moment, she could let go of her tender heart begging at her to stop. But should she continue in doing so, could it put Madelyn in more danger? Could it create her as an enemy to Takeo?

          Where was he? He was a part of this but...why had he been there for them? Protecting them, bringing joy to the household that had felt incomplete for the longest time? A pause and arms fell. Elyse's head dropping to allow golden locks to shield her expression. Body trembling whilst the sound of metal meeting concrete was left to reverberate around the tiny space. What a joke she was. Should it have been raining where she was standing it could have been an easy excuse for the stains now appearing on her face. She was such an idiot to even try going against this woman considering her expertise.

          "I'm such an idiot..." She paused. "May I ask...one favor?"

Relax…

Final look over of his appearance made among the reflection of the vehicle confirms that all is well…but…ah, maybe he shouldn’t have asked her. What if she decided it was going to be awkward or worse, only wanted him as a friend? He hardly wanted to put the young mother in an unsettling situation. Damn it, why was he so nervous?! It’s not as though being out with a woman was something new to him.

…But there’s never been one like her…

Head shaking, and deep breath inhaled, he forces limbs to move. Black dress pants matched with a light blue button up offer a semi-formal attire thanks to the dark sport blazer. Bouquet hidden behind, he stands erect, almost unable to bring the hand to knock had he not pushed. God, this entire thing was nerve wrecking! How pathetic must he look?

Seconds tick, and every so often, he shuffles. Should he have called to see if she was ready? Maybe sent a message?… Or… Or was she unable to find a babysitter and forgot to tell him? Shit, he was probably going to make her feel uncomfortable for not checking in. 

"This is a bit too much, huh..? Oh, this one!" Too much time was being spent on one simple task. Every dress taken out from her closet, she was taking far too long holding them up against herself infront of the mirror. Hoping to find the right one to impress him. It was rather amusing to the woman, honestly. It had been so long since she had been asked out like this so she was rather out of practice when it came to what to wear or what to do. Had they even agreed if it was formal or not? Time ticked by and she could feel her nerves increase more.

The selection of a tight fitting red dress which reached to her knees, the neckline a simple heart shape with thin sleeves which widened slightly at her shoulders. The black jacket helping make it just that little less formal but still holding class. Dark heels and matching clutch added to complete. Hair was styled a little more than usual giving golden locks a bit more lift through loose curls at the bottom and her makeup a bit more impressive. Final checks were made in the mirror as fingers teased her wavy bangs for the perfect position even though they would no doubt be ruined within a few minutes.

Okay...It's just a date...Breathe...

Ah, she was far too nervous about this! The knock at the door causing the young woman to jump slightly in her place. Already?! Grabbing the bag, she threw in whatever she would need through the night and gave herself a spray of perfume on her way downstairs. The door soon opening to reveal the male outside who was instantly causing her heart to stop in place. Did she look too strange? Was she going to be entertaining enough for him? Why were the nerves suddenly kicking in at full speed now?!

"Happy New Years, beautiful..." Careful digits rise to caress those delicate and refined cheekbones of her face. Dim and colorful lighting of the New Year's celebration etching across features, but it's all he needs to find her with ease. Short smile offered, Takeo leans in, planting a kiss that he hoped could express his increasing adoration for her and what he hoped for in the coming year. His beautiful, gorgeous Elyse.
