Chanyeol had just worked a double shift at the hospital and he was completely exhausted. Trauma had a four car pile on crash with everyone injured, and one had passed while they tried to save them. This was a scene he was used to though, there was a law to wear seatbelts, but then the fine as a measly thirty dollars or so, why even bother? He has heard so many people, so many patients, strangers, talk about how they’re good drivers so they don’t need to wear seatbelts. He can’t seem to get it through to people unless they’ve lost someone, that wearing a seatbelt isn’t about your driving, but protecting you from other’s driving. His exhaustion was physical and mental.
Heading to the nurses station he does some tidying up and last minute paperwork as his shift technically ended a few minutes ago. He never seems to go home on time though, but that was the life of a nurse when the hospital was understaffed. Why would the hospital spend more money on nurses when they could save up and buy fancy new equipment that they really don’t need. Groaning Chanyeol wipes his face with his hand before leaning back against the wheeled chair. Staring up at the ceiling he hears feet shuffling over, leaning back some more he recognizes the man coming over.
“Eros-- my shift is over, but I can’t seem to move from this chair.”
He complains to the other before sitting correctly in the chair once more.
“I can’t seem to make my legs move. I think they’re protesting the sixteen hours I just spent on them. They can’t fathom walking to clock out and then the possibility of having to stand on the bus back home. And then walking home from the bus stop.”
He sighs and pokes at his thighs dramatically.
“Nope. They’re out of commission...Help me.”
He says looking rather pathetic as he holds out his hand for the other in hopes that his fellow nurse will help him stand up.
