Getsu was just thinking, about life, about school, about Zack. He hadn’t seen him in over a month and it worried him honestly; still the elder Kokuryuu twin tried to stay optimistic and believe Zack would return soon. So when he felt someone grab his hand he thought it might be Tsuki and his eyes widened when he saw who it really was. He blinked for a moment. “Zack? Is it really you?”

Getsu’s words were bittersweet to say the least. He bumped his shoulder into the other’s resting there. He was glad to hear his voice. “Who else? There’s nobody in this hell-town is as handsome as I am.” Zack joked, offering an apologetic smile.

“It’s nothing I guess,” Getsu said smiling some, “Just that you’re amazing and wonderful.”

Zack sat back in his seat, taking a couple of moments to think over his words before responding with an unusual amount of honesty. His hand absently gestured as he spoke. ❝ Flattery can get you a lot of places, but I don’t really take it seriously, dude. ❞ The ends of Zack’s lips curled in an amused smile as he made light of it. ❝ Thanks anyways. ❞ He reached forward to ruffle Getsu’s hair.

Getsu had been hurt, really hurt. He had wanted to help, he really cared about Zack and he knew he might be a bit pushy and he felt bad about it. But it also hurt just to be dismissed like that.

But he was unwilling to let this hold him back. He was there to talk to Zack but he couldn’t think of anything to say, instead just going over and wrapping his arms around the other boy and hugging him, burying his face in his neck. The gentle circles felt nice; he sniffled.

Zack heard the other boy’s sniffle and his heart sank to his foot. If he could pluck the moon from the sky to make it up to Getsu, he would. He... really messed up. And again, he had no excuse for it. Zack wasn’t upset at him, though, and he hoped that would translate through his touch. If only he could physically pick Getsu’s spirits back up the same way he had the super strength to lift gigantic rocks. Thoughts, emotions... They were never easy.

Zack turned his head to press kisses from Getsu’s temple, down the side of his hidden face.

Getsu curled up against Zack, trying to stay warm while not steal the blanket himself. It really was cold and he just wanted warmth. Zack was warm; Getsu snuggled against the other boy and nuzzled him.

Zack’s arm rested across Getsu’s shoulder in an unintentional, loose hug. He felt tired, heavy. He didn’t want to move anymore. He just wanted to sleep. Zack’s head gradually relaxed forward as he began to drift off again, his forehead and nose gently pressed to the side of Getsu’s head.

“Yup, she thinks you have really nice hair and a nice smile,” Getsu said grinning, enjoying giving up his sister’s secrets.

      ❝ Well, that’s nothing new. ❞ Zack opened his arms and tipped his head with fake confidence, offering his signature smirk. ❝ But, fancy... huh? Strange girl... ❞ The Ranger lifted a hand to pet his gelled hair curiously. He didn’t... Neglect his hair. But, he didn’t think it was anything special, either.
