The color almost fell from his face while he almost fell off of the bed. It was a casual browsing..? He put his phone back into his pocket as he stood from his bed, “Okay, okay I’ll start cleaning. Jin-hyung.. no fun. Why are you on this cleaning kick anyway?”
Hoseok was having a hard time at work, trying to keep his mood up and happy like usual becoming more difficult each day. His feet dragged against the concrete as he walked through the empty park so late in the evening. Hands shoved into his pockets before finding his way to a park bench. He leaned against the seat, pulling his phone from his pocket and scrolling through his contacts and bringing up a new message.
{✉️sms: Haneul} Hey.. you awake?
{✉️sms: Haneul} Want to hang out tonight..?
“My sin was not specifically this or that but consisted of having shaken hands with the devil. The devil held me in his clutches, the enemy was behind me.” – Demian, Hermann Hesse
It was like a nightmare - a young girl’s body lying motionless in a pool of her own blood which seemed to just keep spreading on the old tile floor. The room was silent, the two males’ breathing seeming to dissipate from the reality of what happened. It wasn’t supposed to have been this bad. There wasn’t supposed to be this much blood.
“You’ve made such a mess… Ah well. You’ll learn for next time.”
Hoseok cringed at the cold voice of the one he wished he had never met. His fingers trembling, causing him to drop the dull knife in his hand. He hated this; he hated what he had become because of this terrible man that stood in front to him. Every day he prayed it was all just a horrible dream that he would soon wake up from so that everything could return back to normal…
But that hadn’t happened yet. Instead, he was given the horrible fate to meet Yoongi and become bound to this horrible demon that turned his life into a living hell. Hoseok was a nice kid, he never did anything wrong. So why was he standing above a poor girl’s lifeless body that he was responsible for causing? But more importantly, why did he feel the rush of adrenaline, gaining enjoyment of the situation as the murderous actions took place? It wasn’t him… it couldn’t be him… but it was him.
Yoongi never seemed to think of the consequences that came with the requests that he would ask of Hoseok. Yoongi never seemed to worry about getting caught and being put away for life for the tragedies he caused. Yoongi never seemed to think of the friends and families of the girls he chose as his victims.
But Yoongi wasn’t the one committing these crimes. This was Hoseok, doing what he was forced to do. Feeling the devil controlling him to do such terrible things. Selfishly protecting his own family by killing.
He hated Yoongi… but he hated himself the most.
“It’s too evil…”
“Hoseok? Are you dozing off again??”
The brunet shook himself from his horrible daydream of his actions the night prior. He looked to the man in the doorway of the cremation office in which Hoseok worked. “Ah… I’m sorry. I guess I didn’t sleep very well last night… again. What were you saying?” He ran a hand through his hair, standing up from his chair.
“The new girl started today. I wanted to introduce you to her.”
That was news to Hoseok. He didn’t remember anyone talking about hiring someone new. Curiosity struck him as he walked out of the room and up the stairs to the main area of the funeral home. It was hard to miss the new girl as stood by the reception desk, her sweet face and adorable smile resembling that of a pure angel.
Hoseok approached her, bowing politely before smiling to the girl, “My name is Hoseok. I’m in charge of cremation downstairs. It’s a pleasure to be working with you.”
