79. “No one is coming for you.”
In the wake of the night, two purple orbs could be seen glowing in the dark... wandering... watching. It was one of the vampire’s favorite hobbies, to observe the humans cruising around aimlessly through the silent, dark streets. All alone, they would show him a side of themselves that no one else ever got to see. It was their most primal, animalistic side, the one that feared for safety, and was willing to fight to survive.
His first subject that particular night seemed to be a weirdly dressed girl, that had somehow wondered her way into an empty parking lot, despite not looking old enough to actually know how to drive. What was she doing there? She didn’t seem lost. If anything it seemed like she was exploring the space around her. How interesting. Maybe she knew of something he didn’t.
Curiosity killed the cat, he remembered hearing from his older brother. Too bad he never actually cared about what others said to him. He wanted to approach the girl, and so he did.
“What are you doing here at night?”
Considering he had approached her from behind, it was no wonder she got startled by all of it. Not only by his approach, but by the way he presented himself. His clothes, his expression, his stuffed animal. Soon enough she was backing away, seemingly on the verge of screaming out for someone, anyone to come help her.
“It’s useless... No one is coming for you.”
