🌸 Ok I'm sick with a fever but I saw a post that makes me want to try to articulate my feelings anyway, so I apologize in advance if this doesn't make sense or us unorganized/rambly.

Me liking how Peter wants to be fatherly to Miles does not mean I hate Miles' real dad or want Peter to replace him. I actively really love Officer Davis. He's an excellent dad, I want him to be my dad. That's why I have Miles listed as Godson on my f/o list, cuz I can't completely adopt him since he has such awesome parents. I think Peter just feels the same way about Miles as I do; Peter and Miles' age difference is a perfect set up to make Peter feel protective of Miles as if he was his own son, bringing to light a side of him he didn't know he had ("Do I want kids??"). Heck, we all call Miles our son and act parentally protective over him, so it doesn't make sense to slam people who say Peter feels the same way and think it's sweet. It's not always a matter of replacement or filling in a gap (as it is with me and certain relationships). Peter loves Miles, he said so himself.

I accept that Peter and probably the rest of the spi.der family loves and protects Miles in their own ways (cuz this group is full of love), while also acknowledging that Miles has an amazing biological family who loves him and treats him well too. You can never have too many people to care about you.

he was honestly quite glad to be living with his cousin now, or to have her living with him. his dad wasn’t home much of the time, often staying at the dorms at work to sleep since he was so dedicated to his job. that left the apartment to miles and hugo, and since the man wouldn’t be homes to see the place, there was no harm in decorating it to their tastes, right?

he had allowed miles to pick the colour they were going to paint the walls of the living room, having picked up a few cans of the colour and had set aside the whole day to pull the furniture out of the way, cover the floors, tape the baseboards and of course paint the walls. He finished taping the last bit of the baseboard before turning to her with a wide grin. “ready? the rollers are in the corner. after this we get to go pick some new furniture to match.”
