Namjoon was always welcoming friendly company, it was something the warlock got rarely and it was usually short lived in general. He wasn’t good to be around, he wouldn’t ever blame anyone other than himself for his own seclusion from the world around him. It was a harsh reality he understood and accepted before he even made his evil deal, but even knowing the inevitable- Namjoon didn’t have difficulty in pushing the sobering thoughts to the back of his mind to blissfully ignore until it was almost easy to forget about. Korain was great company on his own, sure he was the bane of the warlock’s studies but that’s how Namjoon liked it. His research wasn’t going anywhere, the secrets and discoveries would keep waiting to be found like they always have. The people in the there and now- his focus should be on them while he still got the chance to. Korain was often visiting and keeping Namjoon company as he fiddled around, sometimes he even brought his familiar friend Cya along and the warlock was just as fond of the chipmunk’s company as he was the twin’s.

Hearing Cya’s random outburst of inner cellular structures had the warlock laughing softly as he glanced up as he cleaned up his latest experiment. One more breakthrough made, after he cleaned up his study for next time a few days of relaxation was going to be Namjoon’s gift to himself after working so hard. Kicking it off with company was just good luck with even better timing, but the warlock definitely wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth here. “You are very correct, good job. I don’t know what inspired that bit of knowledge to spring out of no where but hey, learning facts or having ones you already know refreshed every now and then is something I’m thoroughly supportive of. I usually give Xion a gold star every time he has a fact or two to tell me, it gives him a little more desire to learn. Would you like a gold star too? I’ll even let you pick the one you want out of all the stickers I have too. Just give me thirty more seconds to finish up and I’ll poof them up for ya.”

The changes started subtly over time, maybe that’s why Namjoon still believed he had everything under control. The demons began needing things more frequently, they were around longer than normal, and half the time it seemed like he’d get done with a project for one just for another to drop by the same day for something else. His irritability was easily blamed on the constant pestering, but as time went on it was more than just that. It wasn’t just irritability every so often anymore, before he knew it Namjoon was developing a constant level of anger, no matter if he had something to be agitated about or not, his bad moods became more and more frequent. He did his best to keep it from being too noticeable around Jungkook, he didn’t want to be grumpy and short tempered with the one person who never did anything wrong in the first place, but even that could only last so long. 

The warlock was spending more time in his study than ever, but he never seemed to get anything done. He thought it was just a slump at first, he just needed to work through it and he’d be fine eventually. However if anything, it only got worse. It went from just not being able to focus on the words on a page right in front of him, to misplacing entire tomes and finding them in the oddest of places, to not remembering half the time he spent in that room and not knowing why. Gaps in memory was never something to be ignored, nor could it mean anything but something bad, however Namjoon chalked it up to being overtired and overworking himself and was content enough with his own answer. Recent he’d been experiencing magic flares, but they only seemed to be when he was angry at something, which sadly was still becoming more common than not. 

The warlock was trying to read up on potential causes of his unruly magic, leaning on the table with both arms with a book lying open right in front of his face, and he couldn’t even remember the top of the page he’d read just five moments ago. He wasn’t getting anywhere and just getting more irritated. He didn’t even hear the door to his study opening, if his name was called he didn’t hear that either, the only thing that pulled his attention away from the book was someone touching his shoulder. Turning to look at the intruder the look in Namjoon’s eyes had never been darker, never held such utter annoyance as it did now. He had been assuming it was another demon, magic energy collecting around him so thickly that the space around him lit up with small occasional sparks of elemental magic. It took the warlock a few moments before he even seemed to recognize the person in front of him as Jungkook, the darkness in his gaze faded, a hint of the confusion and unbridled anger still visible under the look of normalcy Namjoon tried to wear on his features. While it used to be normal for the warlock to initiate physical affection between them both the male didn’t even touch the younger, instead walking away from him as he tried to seem busy with putting the assorted books he had sprawled out back in the places on the nearby shelf. 

“I’m going to have some visitors in about ten minutes or so. You know how I don’t like them being around you, so while they’re here just relax in the bedroom for a while. If you need something, just text me and I’ll make sure you don’t have to wander around and get anything yourself. I’ll make sure you know when they’re gone so you know when you’re free to roam the house again.. After I’m done with them I still have work to do, so don’t wait for me to go to sleep tonight. I’ll be finishing up late.” That was, if he could even manage starting like he had been trying to for the past five hours. If he had to, he’d just stay up all night. After all, he did tell Jungkook not to wait up for him.

Schedule Change || Closed ||

Namjoon had been waiting in the practice room before Jimin had even gotten there, a gentle smile on his lips the instant the idol walked in. “No practice today, Jiminie. I already talked to your manager and looks like you have a schedule change today. You’ve seemed a little tense lately, more than normal. So, I’ve taken the liberty of planning a little relaxation day for you. And before you ask, no, it’s not negotiable. But before you start getting all pouty, I promise I’ll be making it up to you. Practice is important to you, I know that, so I’m taking you back to my place and trust me when I say this place will be the furthest thing from your thoughts.” Still smiling, mischievousness shining in his eyes Namjoon took a few steps forward, leaning down to press a light kiss on the idol’s lips. He knew Jimin didn’t like missing practice, but maybe a kiss here and there would make him a little less stubborn until they got back to his place. The dancer needed a little stress relief, thankfully the warlock knew the best way for him to relax. “That is, if you’re still able to think at all. So, what do you say? Are we going back to my place the fun way or the hard way, sweetheart?”

Why did one of them have to need a favor today? The warlock was almost tempted to just shut the demon out despite the nature of his agreement with the hellspawn. If he’d just been by himself, it wouldn’t have been an issue, however with Jungkook here... Once again the demon was asking to come inside, a request Namjoon reluctantly gave into. “Don’t get anywhere near him.” His tone was completely different, no longer gentle and teasing, even his dorky and somewhat clumsy demeanor had changed as well. The warlock now just sounded cold, harsh and detached from the situation entirely, his posture reflecting just how serious the spellcaster truly was. Namjoon knew it would all be different to the idol, his strange behavior and the stranger now moving into his home, following all the way to his study. 

The warlock didn’t even glance in Jungkook’s direction, not wanting to draw any attention to his presence in the first place. Abandoning what he had just been working on, Namjoon was quickly starting to piece together the items the demon requested. The sooner he got it done, the sooner they would leave. “Ah, so this is the human that’s been taking up all of your time? Don’t let him distract you too much that you can’t hold out your end of the deal, it would be very unfortunate for everyone.” Namjoon didn’t even glance up at the demon, uncaring about the underlying threat in his words. They could threaten him all they wanted, it wasn’t like they could actually act against him anyway, he’d become too powerful for that. It didn’t take long for the demon to have his attention, however, lilac eyes snapping up as his next words were directed towards the human he was moving closer to. “But things would be a lot more entertaining if you did make yourself a problem for us. You’re prettier than I heard. I wonder if the sounds of your bones snapping would be prettier than I’d imaging too.” Namjoon didn’t even hesitate to act, the demon yelping as it jumped away from Jungkook as frost started to burn across his skin closest to the idol. “I thought I was very clear at the door. Don’t get near him.” Namjoon growled out the words, a dark anger rising in him even as he moved closer to back the demon away from his human’s form. “B-but we have a deal! You can’t do anything to us!”

“The agreement was that I’d do your dirty work when you called for me to, I don’t owe your kind any more than that.” Even the air around Namjoon seemed to shudder in his wake, the strength of his power seeming almost too much for his body to contain. Whether it was small sparks emerging from his fingertips or his icy gaze that seemed to make the room drop a few degrees, there was no question that no being wanted to be on the receiving end of the wrath of Kim Namjoon. "Leave before I decide killing you is worth the headache it’ll cause. Send someone else to pick up what you came here for. If you come back, you won’t be living long enough to make it back out.” Without another word the demon was scrambling out of the house, Namjoon only letting out a sigh when he was out of sight, relaxing as his magic finally settled. “I swear... Demons just don’t fucking listen, do they? Don’t worry, next time I won’t let them in the house if you’re here.”

“Everyone wishes so much for magic to be real, I guess it’s human nature to want to believe... However when shown the magic longed for, they go from wanting to believe, to refusing whats right in front of them. It’s more likely to believe oneself delusional than to believe something that was never truly believed possible in the first place.... So, what about you? Do you believe in magic?”

“Come on I know I just read it the other day...” The warlock muttered to himself, another frustrated sigh slipping past his lips. He should have just checked the book out earlier when he first stumbled across it, if he had he wouldn’t be flipping though pages of useless information that had some semblance of visual similarity to the one he was really looking for. Setting the text he’d just been looking through back on the shelf Namjoon was about to give up entirely, glancing around the library one last time on the off chance that what he was looking for was just wasn’t in the area he’d been looking. Shockingly enough, the familiar cover he had been searching for appeared in his line of vision, the only issue was it was in the hands of someone else. Without hesitation he was moving towards the stranger, offering a polite smile once he got close enough to speak and gain the male’s attention. “Excuse me, would you mind if I just borrow that book for half a minute? I just have to remember a specific detail in it and I want to be sure I remember it accurately. I promise I’ll give it right back.”

Puzzle Box || Closed ||

“You want.... What now?” Korain wanted something to fiddle with, that wasn’t too surprising but what his eyes were scanning over was the real concern. Namjoon had a vast collection of magical artifacts he’d obtained throughout the years. Nothing he had in his home was inherently dangerous, some could be with the right conditions but none were lethal just as they were in their display cases. It wouldn’t be too much of a worry to let anyone handle the bizarre trinkets he had around, some of them even benefiting from a little interaction. Perhaps- “I suppose I could find a thing or two for you.” The warlock trailed off as his eyes scanned through the cases before reaching inside one. Pulling out a small golden box, colorful gears and switches scattered all over the surface, Namjoon placed it in Korain’s hands and smiled brightly at him. “Try this. It’s a puzzle box of sorts, so go crazy with it. Just let me know if you pop that sucker open, kay?”
