Avatar but make it a superhero AU. What kinda powers/abilities do you think the different characters would have?

UHHhh loveee the idea!!! Imma go on and say then that superpowers are hereditary and that the world has such things as "supervillains" for plot purposes!

QUARITCH + SPIDER

Now for these two, I'm thinking something like death/destruction powers! Quaritch in this world would probably be the main and most powerful villain. With Paz having been a fellow villain and remaining the mother of his child. Spider, I imagine, was left orphaned after Jake and Neytiri managed to take him down. He grew up in an orphanage for powers children that Jake founded under the close watch of his allies, in no small part due to the similarities the two have both in appearance and powers. It works pretty simply, tbh. If a think or person is in their line of sight? Spider and Quaritch can kill it. Perhaps we can make it more interesting by saying they're able to create a kind of black "rot" protruding outward, which then corrodes these things. It calls back to how in canon Quaritch is mostly known for destroying stuff. Settling Spider with the same horrid powers as his dad keeps with the whole "sins of your father" situation. Everyone is just waiting for this kid who dreams of being a hero like Jake Sully to fuck it all up and become the bad guy they all think he'll be.

THE SULLY FAMILY

FOREST THEME. Neytiri's power is that as long as she made her arrows herself, she's able to guide them however and wherever she wants. Master archer pretty much!! Meanwhile, Jake is able to accelerate to great speeds It really makes it hit all the harder for him when he loses the ability to walk to the point of turning to villainy for a little bit before switching sides back to the good guys for Neytiri. I like to think that Eywa in this world is just some great cosmic force giving out these powers, with some more attuned to her (the Na'vi) and others not so much (powered humans). Mo'at and Neytiri being especially attuned to her for example. Mo'at in this case prolly had healing powers she used for Jake. Neteyam, I think, inherited Neytiri's powers of master archery while Lo'ak got Jake's superspeed to mirror their respective arcs of "golden child" and "Jake parallel". Tuk would be too young to have grown into hers properly yet, but maybe she inherited her grandmother's healing? With the gift skipping a generation?? As for Kiri- obviously, plant and nature control. She's able to grow all kinds of things out of nothing while also being able to communicate with animals absurdly well. Her powers are unusually strong owing to the fact of her birth (still an incarnation of Eywa done via Grace, though this time it wasn't her avatar but she herself who ended up pregnant. Dying on an attack of Quaritch in the hospital she gave birth in before Jake and Neytiri took in her newly orphaned child). It gives us a really cool dynamic with Spider, they're life-and-death. Kiri could have a draw back that while she can create nature, she can't destroy it. So when she uses her powers it needs to be manualle removed- smth that is obviously an issue if she does so in a large scale. Spider, despite hating his powers, often uses them to help Kiri with that clean up. Just how old needs to decay so new can grow once more. One can't exist without the other, both figuratively and literally.

AWA'ATLU GANG

Ronal and Tonowari would props have smth like enhanced intelligence and strength, respectively. They've got that Ocean Theme nailed DOWN. Tsireya? Either water control OR being able to create illusions with her singing, similar to a siren. Alternatively- she's able to feel the thoughts/emotions of those she touches. Aonung meanwhile, inherited his father's strength. No one can say what Pril will get her mother's intelligence OR smth like seeing the memories of others replay for herself. Roxto had the ability to to create shields for himself and others. He always protected his friends, to the point of being unable to shield himself when time came.

for pie, i think its kinda a shame she got out so early because shes honestly very funny. i love the fact that shes so blunt and rude and a true idgafer but in a completely different way than anyone else, since shes so positive. her bluntness doesnt come from a place of malice, but rather a belief that things just kinda happen, things are just kinda true, things just kinda Are. and its a really nice philosophy to have when surrounded by people so determined to change things, or people who give up out of desperation. she didnt get a lot of fans until after the pi day short i think, me included, but shes a really great character i wish got more attention. shes cute!! what can i say!!!

TM(N)T question. You've said Splinter wouldn't want to train/raise more kids after the turtles abandon him, but would he do it if the kids were human? Like Zack and Caitlyn from the 87 series, maybe even a 2012 Timothy, because they all wanted to be be cool ninjas and fight bad guys. Splinter might, possibly, could then kinda, like, pretend he's a human man with human children? Like, they show up, pester him to make them cool ninjas and Splinter doesn't like children, but it's free disciples for the Hamato cult Clan, ready and willing to tell him how great and amazing he is and follow his every command, and he can "be human again" vicariously through them. Kinda IDW style where those turtles abandoned Splinter when he became leader of the Foot Clan and just, kept using child soldiers, and Mikey can physically fight him about it and eveything

hmmmmmmm. mmmaybe? i don't know. i think it depends on the kid. they would need to be sufficiently desperate, not too whiny (that'd be annoying) and not too tough/headstrong (because then they might get ideas about running away from him or fighting him) but not too weak, or willing to give up on the first try, because he'd certainly reject them the first few times. ideally someone who already idolized him for whatever reason.

(though i think its important to note that Splinter isn't aware of the traits he's looking for in a kid, i just don't think anyone outside of his specific ideal would manage to convince him to train them.)

so yea I can't see him really wanting to RAISE any more kids, but i can definitely see him wanting to live on through them/pass the hamato name to someone who's like, actually a HUMAN. so maybe a kid who can already theoretically take care of themself. like, someone who's over 9 years old. who can feed and bathe and clothe themself.

which is a lot of words to say: potentially yes, he could take on more students, but in the story i'm interested in telling, i don't think he'd get the chance to. i think he mostly becomes a hermit after the turtles cut contact with him.

if anyone wants to write a fic about an OC (or an iteration of an existing character) who fits this description and who, for whatever reason (i can think of a few off the top of my head but I'll leave that up to yall) idolizes neglected Splinter i give you free license to do that but it prolly won't become canon.

opinion on gopher

Well no shade at any Gopher fans but not really positive so dont read further if you dont wanna be sad😂

To me Gopher kind of is one of the reasons for my controverial oppinion of the anime being better than the manga:

The most simple and least pretentious way of describing my thoughts and reasons is - I find him unfunny and obnoxious, while also feeling that he is a pointless charachter with wasted potential at the same time.

But to get more into detail...

When did he get introduced (if I remember correctly?): During that whole mini-arc about Maka wanting "to be an angel".

I have many problems with that part of the story, especially with how it turns Maka into some generic "tsundre kawaii girl who not so secretly likes the guy who she is bitchy too"

But I wont get too much into that, just the fact that I get the point - Gopher gets introduced as foil to her in that arc, to kinda give her a reality check of how unlikeable and childish she is acting.

But the point is, that even with the most charitable interpretation of the arc, Gopher IS just by his nature a charachter tailor-made (literally) to be obnoxious and annoying.

And unlike Excalibur, I find the way in which he is just groan-worthy and not charming and soothing (Yeah Excalibur is great, shout out to the OG)

But ok, maybe thats just bad impresions, does he improve later? Not really cause his whole gag stays this kinda creepy quasi incestious obssesion with Noah and idk, dont even wanna write about that part too much lol

But even if one just looks at it as a charachter trait with possible development, it leads nowhere, Gopher being static besides his final gag (which I admit is funny but also a bit ehh with the whole implication of what hes gonna do with 7 naked unconcious bodies...)

Still, one could say why am I'm expecting something out of a gag charachter? Just dont overthink it - maybe I wouldnt if Ohkubo didnt kinda setup a situation where it seemed there could be more to him, only to be just wasted panel time in the end:

What I mean is, the whole setup of him torturing and integoriating Kid - which seemed to be a perfect opportunity for charachter development for both of them - because they actually have some simmilarities:

Both are "created" and "reverant" to their Father-figure, both have unhealthy obssessions and both start throwing childish tantrums when things dont go their way. (also surface details like both seemingly being anime pretty boys appeiling to a specific demographic, with the dark hair and proper dress-code etc)

Yet all that didnt lead to anything - neither Gopher realised that his "master" is horrible compared to the other side, nor did it make Kid reflect about his own obssessions and how obnoxious and ridicolous he must look to others.

Neither was there anything about being sorta non human, "created" not born - but thats excusable cause that was revealed after the fact in Kids case.

Hell, still there could be even some strengthening of both sides negative traits, the tragedy of communication being impossible, but all lead just to an ok gag of Kids face being made unsymmetrical.

But also on a tangent, the whole "black wings" thing also just seems to be derivative - especially when the much stronger parallel of "angel vs demon" with black and white wings was between Maka and Crona, so yeah I think the whole obnoxious Maka and Gopher thing kinda deluded that meaning, but thats more of a pet peeve.

Still, to leave of not with just bitching, but an interesting thought, or atleast kinda funny in a stupid way (enough that I will prolly use it as filler in my iceberg videos):

I believe your rivalry with Diluc started when you guys were children. You made an offhanded comment about the Knights of Favonius – and thus your rivalry formed. 

Well, more like the comment made you two have a falling out which then formed the tension between you guys which then spiraled into a ‘rivalry’.

I say rivalry tentatively seeing how it formed by you two being children who had strong beliefs and were not willing to hear or understand the other party’s side.

Honestly the whole falling out was really stupid. You just thought (and still think) that the Knights of Favonius were extremely shady and most of them couldn’t get anything done, which angered little Diluc seeing how he looked up to his father and wanted to meet his father’s expectation of becoming a knight. 

Throughout the years you saw Diluc but you never really talked to him for fear of starting another argument. The only reason you saw him is that you were somewhat close to Kaeya, but even then when Kaeya and Diluc had a decent relationship the interactions you had with Diluc were extremely…awkward.

The ‘rivalry’ ended around the time of Diluc’s Eighteenth Birthday. There are three main reasons for this.

One. After Diluc’s father passed away, the “relationship”  you two barely maintained was almost nonexistent at that point. Diluc locked himself away from everyone while you decided it would be best to limit your interactions between both Diluc and Kaeya seeing how they just lost their father/father figure.

Two. Diluc focused more on his rivalry with Kaeya. Seeing how Kaeya had revealed all his lies and they had a huge argument over it; Diluc focused more on that than the comment you made several years ago. 

Three. He finally understood why you thought about the Knights of Favonius that way. 

I believe you guys started talking more after he came back from Snezhnaya. 

You went to Angel Share’s to get a drink around closing time for whatever reason and you saw him cleaning a glass when you entered. You guys proceeded to have a staring contest after that. 

“Diluc, when did you get back?” “I got back a few days ago [Name].” “I see…Where did you go?” “Snezhnaya.”

He made you a drink based on his recommendation and you guys just caught up. 

You guys hung out a lot more after that. Just you showing up at Angel Share and you guys just talking about basic life stuff. You might even take night shifts there just to hang out more.

I also think Diluc would try to go places with you. Like if you had a commission and other errands to do – it just gives him more of an excuse to be around you.

This ties in with his love language being quality time. (Plus physical affection. He’s not very big on PDA though.)

He’d definitely catch feelings first and confess first.

Diluc strikes me as the type of guy who would try to gaslight himself out of being in love and then feel bad about it. 

The way he asked you out was really sweet and simple, but he was super embarrassed 

“[Name] are you free this evening?” Diluc asks, diverting his eyes away from yours. “Yeah, I am. What”s up?” “Great, it’s a date – I’ll meet you at your place this evening.” 

You didn’t have time to respond seeing how he left immediately after that. It’s not like you would have refused, you just found the whole thing a little funny.

You guys had dinner and went on a little walk around Mondstadt before it was time for him to enter Batman Darknight Hero mode. 

You guys had a few more dates before you became ‘official’. 

On the date he asked you to be his significant other he told you how he’s banned from entering Snezhnaya.

“Diluc, you’ve been to Snezhnaya before, right? Perhaps one day we can go together – I heard there are a lot of fun things to do there…” You said looking at your feet. “[Name] I’m banned from entering Snezhnaya…” You look Diluc dead in the eyes “Excuse me, what?” “...[Name] how do you feel about being my significant other?”

Honestly, it took him longer than he would like to ask you to be his S/O; but this wasn’t too much of an issue seeing how he asked you on all your dates with the intention of being partners in the future (and seeing how you said yes intending to be partners in the future). He never answered your question though, but you had a feeling his ban had something to do with his hatred for the Fatui.

Overall Diluc is a soft lover. He loves spending time with you and he is quite upset that you guys had a rough relationship as children seeing how he would have been able to be with you sooner if that wasn’t the cause. Diluc is a 10/10 partner – please spend time with him because he adores being around you.

ooogh. okay. actually i never included this in the ask meme. mm,,, how do i want to handle this. hm. i thiiink.. hibiki and kanade deserve some time to be estranged from each other. obvi this is again, within how i choose to write them. so i dont think this will be a relatable take. buuuut yeah. sometimes the best thing for siblings is to not be siblings for a bit. if anyone asks they just share a last name but have no relation. i think that would be good

i have a very normal relationship with my siblings (<- only child who used to be a younger sibling. that is what i am choosing.)

How i feel about their canonical writing/handling

mmmm,, she is so so so fucking system and i really wish she belonged to anyone but linuj. do u guys remember when i said hm maybe the otono twins were abused by their parents and thats why kanade took control of the situation by hurting the one person she could who would always have to be around her? and then a few months later linuj was like oh kanade is just born evil shes inherently bad because i think thats fun and cool^^ ? i remember. i remember very well.

i think,, hibiki was just ultimately underused. and like. it sucks and was bullshit what happened but also i Understand it within what it did narratively. even if i think linuj kinda dicked up the way it couldve affected the tone of the game. buuut. really the largest disservice that happened was like. the way she ultimately had no agency. according to linuj, no matter what, kanade would be Like That, and hibiki would get hurt, and the end. im not saying what happened to her was her fault, thats not what i mean when i say she has no agency, i mean. there was no in universe reason for what happened, not at the end of the day. she was doomed from conception in and out of universe and it just sucks and makes her feel flat because u cant even go what if not without completely ignoring the way linuj writes a wholeass character. hoping that all makes sense?

buuut yeah. tldr. she couldve been vv well written and handled well, even with her ultimate fate staying the same. but by admitting there's absolutely no way hibiki could have made it out okay, not even a "well, the cards would never line up like this, but if x had happened, and then y, then kanade would've fucked off", but making it that no matter what, kanade is gonna do what she did. it just kinda leaves a bad taste about things

Random thoughts on Moon signs and why Aries Moon is annoying to have

I saw this tweet a while ago that had a list of planetary placements to die for. The first one was Aries Sun/Moon. As an Aries Moon myself, my response was "Nah-ahhh you DON'T want that. This is dangerous territory, trust me". And then I started thinking about Moon signs, why does Aries Moon suck, which Moon placements are nice and which not so much.

You know why Moon in Aries is bad? Sometimes you see these kids at grocery shops that start crying and yelling and tumbling on the floor because their parent doesn't want to buy them candy (actually, big chances are, they are Aries Moons, but that's not what I'm trying to convey here). As kids they are going to externalise their angry feelings, I mean, everyone's okay with that, they're kids, it's just candy. Worst case scenario, you're just going to roll your eyes at them. But think of an adult who has this screaming, hurt and angry kid inside. It's still there. It won't magically change signs once you're old enough. And yeah, it's going to yell sometimes. And be a cry-baby. And passionately experience every feeling with their whole self, good AND bad. Sometimes it's going to want to scream into a pillow because it's so impatient and frustrated and it just wants everything NOW. Someone on lindaland once said, “you don't have Moon with Moon in Aries, you just have two Marses”. Touché.

Okay but if you want to know something about Aries Moon, know that it feels the urge to be independent. Hates restrictions with their whole heart. Impulsive. Veryyyy impatient, as we have already established. Hates being told what to do. Having constant battle with their emotions. Open and naive (remember it's the child of the zodiac). Very cheery and child-like on one hand but on the other, emotions are expressed and felt in a very raw way, let's say, with a burning passion. Will chase everything. And you can only imagine how an Aries Moon feels when it catches the thing it wants. Likes being the first one in everything. Physical activity is good for their mental health. Kind of obsessed with sex.

Taurus Moon. It's Venusian. It's exalted. It's nice and cosy. It probably has a nice, soothing voice. Think of Elton John, he has Taurus Moon. Beautiful voice but also an eye for beauty and luxury. Can be stubborn in its emotions but hey, at least it's stable, right? It's sensual, just like everything Taurus, and probably loves food way too much. It's in touch with its own body and the only downfall to that is when a Taurus Moon person experiences negative emotions, it affects their whole body. Like, negative emotions can make them physically ill.

Gemini Moon. Ohh Geminis... You know that Mean Girls quote about Regina George "That's why her hair is so big. It's full of secrets". I think of that when I think of Gemini Moons. Like, they just know things. They collect secrets like some friggin Finnick Odair. And they analyze them, probably to the point of brain overheat. So, if you don't want a fried mind, I don't advise having a Gemini Moon. Not that you have a choice, but. They also like to talk. A lot. Love to gossip, just sayin. And seem very friendly when you talk to them. I say "seem" for a reason *whispers* don't trust them.

Cancer Moon. Mushy feelings. The homebodies. The family types. The comfy ones, but not in the way Taureans are. Gentle and creative. Likes to take care of others. Kinda reminds me of sitting with a hot cup of tea and typing poetry into your laptop on a rainy day. Idk. All water Moons are overly emotional but Cancer Moon can be moody and changeable and very sensitive to, you guessed it, Moon phases. CLINGY. You guys are clingy, just admit it.

Leo Moon. There's something about them... It's like the star quality of a Leo but it beams from within, you know? It's like something inside was pushing them towards greatness. They just have to believe in themselves and they will shine. Loves creative pursuits, arts, theatre, music, just anyhing fun. Expressive. Charming. Inspiring. Hopeless romantic. Can be flashy too, it's Leo after all. Wanna make them feel good? Compliment them, they LOVE it and need it.

Virgo Moon. Okay... for some reason I know a lot of Virgo Moons and let me tell you... there's something gentle about them. They're quiet and polite and - this is not a commonly talked about Virgo trait, but - they're softies, you know? But they need work, probably to distract themselves from all the thoughts. It's a lot more focused mercurial energy that Geminis, grounded and analytical. But that also makes them prone to overthinking and anxieties. Can be hard on themselves... so they work even more. And unlike Gemini Moons, they're SHYYYYY.

Libra Moon. Everyone loves them. Ugh the irresistible charm. They're the people's people. Again, it's that Venus. The difference is, Taurus loves to be loved and spoiled. Libra will love and spoil others, they just want to be nice and stuff. And they have an eye for beauty and arts. Chances are a Libra Moon person is beauty and art themselves. Has an internal need for relationships. But it's air so has a tendency to intellectualize these relationships... and everything else tbh. Great communication. Social.

Scorpio Moon. They straight up give me the creeps. My sister is a 0° Scorpio Moon so I KNOW. Don't get me wrong, I love Scorpio Suns... but Moons... It's like the water of the water, the over-emotional ones. Kiiiiiind of simmilar to Aries in the sense, that they feel emotions A LOT but it's not straight-forward like with Aries. Instead, it's pushy and passive-aggressive and manipulative, not very trustful and secretive. OH MY GOD, so secretive. It's just intense.

Sagittarius Moon. Ahhhhhh my favourite. And I don't think I say it because I'm Sag dominant... Sag Moons are just FUN. They exude FUN. Their playfulness and cheerfulness comes from their heart, that's why it's so special. Thinks and feels big. Big hopes and visions, maybe too big sometimes. Aries and Leo are focused more on the self, Sag on the other hand, is focused on the world - the actual world or a fictional one. Loves movies and is probably a bookworm. Philosophical. Optimistic and lighthearted. Kind of a dork - whether an adorable or annoying one lol.

Capricorn Moon. I'm sorry but ya'll are just depressing. I have Moon square Saturn so I kind of get the vibe. I feel like having a Cap Moon is like having something squashing you from the inside; very withdrawn. It's cool if you get to work, and Cap Moons can be workaholics and hard workers... But if you give into that hermitism (yea I just made that word up) and get lazy due to... things... or being too overwhelmed by that Saturn energy, you get squashed, basically. Also, fears and lots of reservations. I feel like these guys have issues with that. 

Aquarius Moon. My Aqua friends... let me tell you. They're not necessary weirdos, as people say. But they are humanitarians at their core. Like, THEY JUST CARE. So that makes them sensitive. But not in a watery way. Can be veryyyy aloof and hard to get to. Will probably intellectualize their emotions and try to detach from them. All about people but not like a Libra. Difference is, Aqua wants to be independent. Expressive and intelligent. 

Pisces Moon. My favourite water Moon. It's dreamy and soft. Yeah, a bit flakey, but let’s NOT talk about it. I feel like Pisces Moons just get emotions. They understand them because they're all about the collective. That makes them empathetic. Intuitive. Romantic. The artistic types. DAYDREAMERS TO THE MAX, they’re in another dimension. It’s like sometimes you talk to them but they’re somewhere else. Prolly loves being near the water, it's like the sea is calling them. May have escapist tendencies.
