"You can't keep doing this!" She protested, squirming hard in his grasp on her. Molly didn't pull punches, her hand shoving at his head, attempting to use her weight to throw him off. "Just because you can lift me doesn't give you the right to just pick me up whenever you feel like it--"
That wasn't it. Molly knew very well that it wasn't the reason she was currently over his shoulder; that particular fight was a little out of her current capability, but Roy wasn't supposed to know that. Wasn't supposed to be the one there to pull her away when she bit off more than she could chew. He was supposed to just let it happen.

The question comes as--well, to say that it's a surprise coming from Roy is an understatement. A surprise...and suspicious. Molly narrowed her eyes at him, not quite ready to leap at the opportunity...but close.
"Why do I get the feeling that I'm only perfect for this job because everybody else you talked to said no?"
“Shove off, Kai. It's not my fault you're so short.” Roy felt his smaller friend squeeze past him, wiggling through the crowd of cheering people to make his way towards him.
“'snot my fault either, stupid. Move over!”
“What, think the queen will find you fancy?” Roy shoved him a little bit. “She's just passin’ through. Don't see what you're so excited about.”
“You're up here too. Don't try to blame this all on me. I bet you're the one who wants to find his fancy.”
The crowd shifted again and the two kids were pushed to the front, barely getting a glimpse of the road. Both of them scrambled for the hole, finally breaking out into the sunshine. Kai's silvery eyes were glittering with excitement. Roy supposed his probably looked similar, but he knew he wasn't nearly as excited as his brother.
“Is she there? Can you see the queen?”
“Not yet, and she's not even a queen yet. She's gotta grow older, remember?”
“So what. She's gonna be. No one's the queen right now so--Look!” Kai's hand shot out to snag Roy's tattered coat. His other pointed down the street to the carriage trotting down the cobbled stones.
Huge white horses led the way for an ornate blue carriage, trimmed with gold leaves and foliage-like patterns. At the front was her Majesty's bodyguard, leading the horses through the town at a steady pace. Beside him sat Princess Vivian in all of her glory. Roy felt his mouth fall open, but was too distracted to close it. She was beautiful.
Her hair a mousy brown, curled to perfection; her eyes were green and dazzling. Roy had never seen a dress quite as nice as hers, either, blue and embroidered with gold, just like the carriage. The stones that coated the skirt alone would feed his whole orphanage for a week.
She waved delicately at the crowds, smiling politely, as if perfection came easily to her. The mass of people around him shifted, and a spout of cursing interrupted his awe-filled daydreaming.
“Get out of here, rat!” Kai had wandered too close to the front, angering the bank owner and causing a commotion. Roy was pushed aside roughly, and his brother's shout sounded off to the right of him, out of his line of sight.
“Kai!” he yelled, fighting to shove his way to the front of the crowd again. He managed to just barely see the road, spotting Kai's flop of messy black hair near the ground in the middle of the cobbled street. Guards were pushing people out of the way, controlling the frenzy. Thankfully, Roy was small enough to wiggle around and between people's legs as they were pushed back. Another guard ran forward to try and snatch Kai up and toss him back into the fray, but a small voice stopped them.
“Halt!” Vivian demanded, standing up in the carriage. Her bodyguard reached out for her with a dismayed expression.
“Princess, you mustn’t--” before he could finish, however, she had already hopped down from her seat to reach Kai’s side. Through the small Gap between two people, Roy saw Kai slowly lift his head and meet eyes with the future queen.
“Are you alright?” She asked. Roy could barely hear her over the roaring from the crowd. Kai just stared, laying there with his mouth hanging open like a dead fish.
Using the crowd's outrage as a distraction, Roy managed to wriggle himself out of the mass of people and spring to Kai's side. The guards noticed and pointed their weapons to him, but Vivian stopped them with a wave of her hand.
“Th-thank you, queen. Princess. Your majesty.” Roy stuttered out, then he snatched up Kai's hand and dragged him back into the fray, refusing to stop walking until they had reached the back.
Emerging from the chaos, Roy grabbed Kai's shoulders and shook him roughly. “Are you insane?!” He yelled. “You could have died!”
Kai blinked at his brother with a dazed expression. “She smelled like wildflowers.” Roy slapped the back of his head. “Ow! What? She did!”
It was a peaceful day, the Lord having decided to go to the castle courtyard and do some training. Stretching his limbs, he spun his practice sword, a dull wooden replica of the Sword of Seals, as he looked around at the three soldiers. One charged at him with a wooden handaxe, which he was quick to counter by disarming said soldier. While he was distracted another charged at him with a practice spear, causing him to sidestep and deliver a quick blow to their chest.
“Come on, I’ve taught you better than that!” he says teasingly. Just then, another charged at him with a practice katana, which he had blocked and retaliated by grabbing the soldier’s arm and flipping them over his shoulder. They were all on the ground at this point, causing Roy to stab his sword into the grass.
“Training is over for the moment. I see you all need rest.” he says with a chuckle, before starting to walk off. He wasn’t aware anyone else was nearby, however. Especially not someone outside of his army.
