I NEED YOU NOW || DRABBLE || MAGNUS AND SHERRY
Sherry pushed the key into the lock of the house, and pushing open the door she looked inside and she knew things were going to be different, and Magnus followed, shaking off the snow from his coat.
"Do you want anything?" He asked her. And she noticed how uncomfortable he felt when he asked her that, as if the easy familiarity they once shared was now gone, but only she could see it. She asked for coffee but stopped mid-sentence and changed her mind.
"Tea," She amended, and Magnus went into the kitchen as she went to their bedroom, shrugging off her coat and her shoes, leaving them on the floor, uncovering the bed and curling up underneath the blanket, inhaling the mixed smell of Magnus and her, but she could tell that hers was weakest.
After her recent case she was different; her eyes were sadder, her voice heavy with effort, and her body no longer wanting to get up. It had affected her that much because she lost so many of her agents, and because the atrocity committed was too horrific to understand.
All the more it made her distant from Magnus and Terese, but Magnus took most of it, and when she knew an argument was going to bubble up she shied away from it, not having the strength to argue anymore.
"Sherry," Magnus called out to her, holding the cup of tea in his hands.
There came no answer, and he set the tea on their beside table, taking off his shoes and joining her in bed. “It’s okay,” he whispered, holding her until she fell asleep.
For months it was like this, and she filed for a leave of absence and stayed at home, in bed, quiet. But at night she cried and cried and cried, and called out to her agents in her sleep, telling them it will be okay, that she would get them out of there. And she saw these nightmares, she relived them in her dreams, of watching her agents get tortured with her forced to watch. It was then she always had her night lamp open; to keep the monsters at bay. She had Terese’s lamp open because she was scared they would get her too; she always checked on Magnus, wanting him to be safe.
And Magnus would hold her in his arms, and he would be crying too as she dreamed, as she wept, as she voiced out senseless things into the dark, things she never would have told him during the day. She was grieving and she was lost, and he understood.
It would take time for her to heal, to get her strength back, and he was going to help her, to get back the Sherry he once knew, the one who had laughter in her eyes and a song in her voice. He would not abandon her as Ian did, and he knew that in time he would reap what he sowed.
"It’s okay," he would whisper to her as he would turn on her light as her weeping ceased, and her breathing once more calm as she fell into a dreamless slumber.
"Please come back to me. I know you’ll be okay one day. I’ll help you, I promise." he whispered in her ear, holding her before he himself went back to sleep.
PLEASE // DRABBLE // SWIMMING WITH THE FISHES
SWIMMING WITH THE FISHES: My character is drowning, and yours is desperately trying to save them - with no luck until the very end.
He was struggling as he watched her, in the middle of the frozen lake he was reaching out to her, telling her to just get a little closer. But the water was cracking below him and she was yelling at him to get away from her.
He had to live for Terese, he was a father and he couldn’t die trying to save her.
But Magnus would refuse to let her die, he wouldn’t let Sheridan die, not like this, never again.
"Please, Sheridan, Please just reach for my hand."
But she was dipping under the water, her body seizing up, telling her to give up the struggle. He was screaming, and she could hear it under the water.
And then it stopped and Sheridan thought that it was over, that this was it. She was gone, and cold, and dead.
"Sherry!" he shouted as he pulled her out of the water, she gasped for air as she felt his arms around her waist, and she realised he was in the water with her.
"Wh-"
"Shh.. help is coming." he said, and he held her, and put his hands on her face, "Please Sherry, you have to stay warm. Please."
The others were rushing towards them, and they would be saved, and Magnus kissed her in the cold water.
"Please."
NERVES // DRABBLE // THE BELLS
THE BELLS: Our muses’ wedding day.
He couldn’t be more nervous if he was in the middle of a shoutout, in fact, if he had a gun on him right now he would be less nervous. But Leda told him that it was noticeable with his suit on, and that he shouldn’t be wearing a gun on his wedding day anyway.
But he was nervous, and he was panicking.
He was sure that Sheridan would change her mind, that she’d say she didn’t want to do it anymore. He remembered feeling like this when he had married Maria, and that only made him feel worse.
Magnus had no idea, even after all these years, of what Maria would say to him about him getting married again. He had promised her that he’d only love her for the rest of his life, but… he fell in love with Sheridan, he fell in love and so did Terese.
He thought that maybe that they shouldn’t get married, that they should do that permenant thing, but he had to remember that Maria was gone, and if something happened to him Terese wouldn’t have anyone. His sister had her own life, and his mother was getting older.
At least with Sheridan he’d know she’d be okay.
But when the music started, and he turned around to see Sheridan walking down the aisle, with Terese stepping in front of her, throwing white rose petals on the floor. Magnus couldn’t think of anything else, but of how beautiful she looked.
SEVEN TESTS || DRABBLE
Sherry had all the signs—the nausea, the mood swings, the morning sickness and the cravings. She brushed them all off, thinking that she had the flu, and when she missed her period that month she thought that it was because of the stress. It was the same months after her divorce from Ian.
But when she didn’t get her period the next month she was worried and went to buy seven different pregnancy tests during her lunch break, and by the time lunch break was over she was staring at four tests with two bars, two with positive signs in it, and one with the word pregnant written in small font.
She looked at all of them all laid out on the restroom counter, an affirmation that she was indeed pregnant. Memories of some years ago flitted through her mind and she remembered her reaction when she found out she was pregnant with Ian’s baby, and how it filled her with the hope that it would save their marriage, that somehow their baby would bring them closer to each other. Sheridan shoved the other painful memories aside, focusing on the tests in front of her.
“Oh God,” she breathed out, running a hand through her hair and biting her lip. She didn’t know how Magnus was going to react. It’s all going so fast, she thought to herself, releasing the breath she’d been holding.
She was scared that he wouldn’t like a baby with her, and she was scared because she never really raised a baby even though she had some experience with her niece Chelsey; it was going to be so different because this was her baby, her and Magnus’ baby. Sherry knew that at some point she’d have to tell him; it’ll show in a few months and she would not be able to hide it from him any longer.
Taking the rest of the day off she went home to prepare dinner, buying balloons and a card, not sure if her plan would go well, but she went on with it anyway. She cooked dinner and when everything was prepared she fixed herself up, wearing a dress she bought and never got to wear.
When Magnus came home that night and she heard him enter and call out for her, Sherry’s heart hammered in her chest and she took a deep breath as she walked up to him, kissing him.
“You look beautiful,” He beamed, twirling her, making her forget that she had a purpose for this dinner.
“How was work?” she asked, giggling.
“We have a lead, but enough of that, what is that wonderful smell?”
“Norwegian Bass with butter lemon sauce,” Sherry replied, and gestured for him to sit on the table.
Dinner went on well, and the time for her to tell him the news crept up on her. Sherry excused herself and disappeared for a while, returning with balloons and a card in her hands.
“What’s with the balloons and the card?” He asked with a laugh.
“Uhm, just read the card.” she said, handing him the card and he opened it, the words HAPPY FATHER’S DAY with a sketch of a smiling cartoon baby drawn by Sherry. Magnus looked up, jaw dropping.
“I don’t—Wha—?”
Sherry bit her lip and twiddled her fingers, looking at him. “I’m pregnant,” she whispered, so soft he could not hear, and he stood up and asked her to repeat what she just said.
“I’m pregnant!” she said, louder this time as she watched and waited for his reaction. He looked at her face, then at her tummy, then back to her face again, his mouth hanging open.
“You’re—you’re pregnant? Are you sure?”
“I took seven different tests and they all said positive.”
“Seven? Sherry you took seven tests?!” Magnus exclaimed, hands coming up to smooth his curly hair.
“Are you mad?”
“Mad? My god I’m shocked,” he paused, and Sherry cast her eyes downward to the floor, but his next words made her look up again so fast.
“But most of all I’m overjoyed. I’m happy, Sherry.” He picked her up and spun her around, making her giggle, tears rolling down her cheeks as she kissed him when he set her down.
They spent a few minutes in silence, his hand on her still flat tummy.
“Seven tests? Isn’t that a little bit too much, Sherry?” He asked, breaking the silence.
“I just wanted to make sure. You want to see them?” she asked, lacing her fingers with his. Magnus nodded, and together they walked to the bedroom, both glad that they were going to begin a new chapter in their life: Parenthood.
Sherry doesn't like putting milk in her cereal; she hates them getting soggy, so when she eats cereal, it's always without milk.
