ACTING LESSON WORKSHOP
KT ENT. BUILDING
FEBURARY 14, 2013
it wasn't like what the instructor was saying was boring -- she was sure it wasn't. however, the history of acting wasn't something sunyoung was particularly interested in exactly, and her mind started to wander off into other areas -- what's going to be on the menu for lunch today? i hope that we didn't have to bring heels for dance practice holy shit, are mini and coco eating well? they better be because i swear to god if i come home and there's throw up on the floor i'm gonna---
"sunyoung. care to explain what are we about to do right now?" his booming voice that was cast in her direction shattered her train of thought, and doe eyes blinked once, twice, thrice in return; already expressing what words didn't at the moment. "uh... no i can't, sir."
"well, you'll be the first to start us off then, thanks for volunteering! come up here."
there was an internal groan that wanted to escape from her throat but couldn't, silenced by the what if-consequences in her mind that she knew would come to reality if she even dared to do so. picking herself up off of the floor of the dance studio, she made her way over to where the man currently stood, turning to face the table which had a simple black snapback laid upon it once he pointed a finger towards in it's direction.
"as we all know, the best actors are versatile, able to play a various amount of characters, each with different actions, quirks, and behaviors. in this warm-up exercise, i'll describe a character and you must show me the way that they would put up the hat. sounds easy enough, right?" sunyoung watched as the man traveled to get the object, and nodded once it was in her own hands. "pretend that they're coming home or something, the possibilities are literally endless." combing slender finger through brunette tresses, the girl placed the hat upon her head before nodding again at the instructor, watching as he stepped back to lean upon the wall. "so i just have to walk over and put the hat on the table?"
"do it however you see fit for the character." he replied, and she only pursed her lips together in a fine line in response. even if this was just a warm-up, she thought that they would get something a little... more challenging to do.
"let's start of simple. you're a drunk girl who's trying to sneak back into her parent's house after they forbid her to go out." sunyoung tried her hardest not to snort, because considering her history, that was something that she was well experienced in. however, the girl let her head suddenly slump forward, body swaying to each and every side it could as she took several erratic steps forward, then suddenly two back as if she couldn't keep her balance. "oooohhhh my gooood--" "more dramatic, sunyoung." "OOOOH MY GOOOD--" "remember, you're trying to sneak back into your house."
she suddenly stopped at those words, head dashing left and right as if her parents had heard her before suddenly -- she took one step before crashing to the ground, as if she had tripped over nothing. "aww fuck---" the words came out no more than a whisper as she started to lazily crawl over to the table, body dragging along the hardwood floor. "i needa put my haaaat," sluring her words together as best as she could, sunyoung reached up for her hat, finger fumbling to take it off her her head before she lazily threw it towards the table -- the hat completely missing it's course and hitting the wall behind it before sliding down to the floor. a giggle, then a hiccup was all she said in response before she pressed her face on the floor, light snores coming from her mouth. "and, scene."
there was a long silence that followed after her words, and the brunette wasn't sure if that was a was a pleasant sign or not. as she rolled on to her back and pushed herself up a seated position, sunyoung was met with the blank expression of the instructor before he expressed his thoughts, "what was that, park sunyoung."
"well... i-- i mean, my character walked in the house drunk the suddenly remembered that her parents were sleeping. when she tried to walk silently she tripped and fell on the ground, the crawled over to wherever..." her hands motioned to the table, not knowing what to call it in her story ( was it just a table? or a hat rack? or a couch? the instructor wasn't exactly clear on that part, she thinks. ) "... and tried to put it up, but obviously got lazy and threw it. then she just said forget it and fell asleep there." sunyoung finished off, a confident grin growing on her features.
her story was just met with a sigh and a chuckle -- and she wasn't sure if that was because her story was funny to him, or if it was out of pity. "it looks like we have a lot of work to do."
