I’m so glad that Killian finally seems to be going forward, just a little. He may still be fighting his feelings and the pull between him and Emma, but I know he won’t be able to do so for much longer. Even with their arguing and the wariness of trusting one another, they really are so much alike. I love the build up. It’s going to be beautiful when they finally give in to their budding affection!

I love the role reversal, seeing Princess Emma dish out lines that Killian spoke in canon. This is a unique version of these two characters, with Killian being the one with walls and trust issues. But no matter what Emma thinks, I believe that he’s already well on his way to falling in love, he just doesn’t know it yet!

I love the almost swap between their characters from canon. Emma was the one who lost love to death; Killian was the one whose love abandoned him to take the fall for her crimes. Emma is the intrigued one, following Killian around and trying to get him to open up; Killian is the one with walls a mile high and feels too afraid to let anyone in. Even some canon dialogue reverses! It’s refreshing to see this twist, and I really am enjoying reading it!

This fic is a uniquely Once-esque twist on the Swan Lake/Swan Princess story. I love how Emma is determined to break this curse on her own. It’s not that she can’t move on from her past love, but that she can’t seem to find anyone to truly care for, and that’s why she feels it necessary to seek out other options. It’s very like her to be independent and strong and it’s something I’ve always loved about her character.
Looking forward to seeing how Lieutenant Jones fits in! :)
