“...dirk?”

the scene was all too familiar to him. in fact, it’s basically that same page all over again. except they’re all on the ground and not floating in space. he’d be damned if dirk would say the same thing he said to him when they first ‘met’. not that it’d be surprising. would it be ironic that he’d say it even though they’re not the ones who did all this? or at least, whoever’s from their world, anyways. 

but this time, john approaches the younger man.

“hey? earth to strider?”

john squints up at the sky, seeing the distortion pull and crackle from all the glitch. he’s... still not sure why this is happening. he never knew how much he missed having his powers until now. it would have been helpful to at least fly around and see the disaster that unfolded around the city. 

welp. no use in sticking around right now. he should find more people and see what’s up.

he hops off from one piece of debris from another, already a significant amount of distance from the ground. he scans the area, squinting as much as he can to see any people---until he sees a pink... neko girl that sticks out like a sore thumb. 

“am i seeing things?” he scratches the back of his head. well, one thing to find out. “hey!! over here!”

john ran and ran... it felt like there was no end to the pursuit. two large, glitched-out figures were chasing after him the moment he had emerged from a wall of glitches from his end. even as he flew, they still haven’t stopped. and john isn’t going to waste another minute of his flight just in case.

he takes a detour and dives into an open window and hid just under it. his heart beating in his ears as he tries to calm down and keep quiet. just as he finally calmed, he turns to see someone else hiding as well.

“oh, uh... is this place taken?” he whispers, still hearing the growls of his pursuers from afar.

all things considered, this was exactly how he’d imagined it would look like when he decided to fight something head-on. it sent him flying across a few buildings before landing on a rather unsuspecting individual. he’s lucky that he used a little bit of his flight to soften the blow but he’s as frazzled as he was almost getting knocked out by whatever that was.

he flops pathetically to the side with a small thud, letting out a groan. after gaining a few his bearings, he just... lays there.

...

...oh, right. he crashed into someone on his way here. 

“hey, it’s you! what’re the odds that i crashed into you again.”

the pained scream was faint, almost too far from his reach, yet it still catches his attention. instincts told him to run away from whatever it was but knowing that someone’s there, he might as well try to help. not that he could do anything... but it’s still something. 

his chest burns, feeling winded almost instantly from pushing himself to run that far. the moment he arrived, it looked like he was a little too late. the man was all bloodied but he can’t tell if he’s keeping himself up. john can’t see who he’s fighting against, doubting any sort of monster would be around that is, until--

--something strikes at the man. whatever it was, he couldn’t feel it’s presence. 

“what the hell?” john slowly and carefully approaches, brows knitted together as he tries to see what was really attacking him. no matter how close and at a safe distance he is, he can’t see nor hear it. even still, he summons his wooden hammer, raring to attack at the unseen force.

“okay, jade. you know the rules. when we go on a walk, no barking at other dogs and peeing in the side walk, okay?” 

he snickers, adjusting the backpack he prepared for him and jade as they have their little retreat out here in cotes ward. they’ve got of list of areas to go for and they’re going to go to them as much as they can.

it’s waaaay too early for him to be this up and about. well, early for his standards. it’s like, 1pm. he ran out of drinks in his room so he’s doing a quick run to little tokyo get some. but as he flew, he misjudged the time on his flight again, too tired to count when he suddenly feels weighted and fall.

“OH, FUCK, LOOK OUT--” and then he crashes into this guy. that’s GOTTA HURT.
