It's October and the sky is grey and the trees are orange and your nose is cold because you've forgotten your scarf for the third cold windy day in a row. When the wind blows the tips of your fingers feel like the tips of your nose and you debate sewing your gloves onto a string like you had as a child. There's a heavy weight in your chest and a tightness in your throat but you can pretend the wet of your eyes is just from the wind, at least most of the time. If the cold doesn't do you in you think the weight in your chest will But there's music in your ears and a story in your mind only you can write properly But there are people waiting on you, kids who want to learn to draw and be pushed on the swings. Friends who's eyes gain a little light when they see you. But there's still foods to be made and cookies in your freezer that need to be baked and who would teach your nan how to use a computer It's October and the first frosts of the season crunch under your feet and you push your fingers further into your pockets because you've forgotten your gloves (again) but there's spots of warmth in the darkness and you can move towards them.
