Hazbin Hotel Drag Night - Open Starter #2

Laz was having an absolute ball. This was such a good night already! They hooted and hollered and very quickly filled their sketchbook pages with dynamic poses of the performers on stage and interesting faces they spotted in the audience.

Quite frankly, this wasn't at all what they'd expected Princess Charlie (@princessxmorningstar) to come up with, at least from what they'd heard and seen of her. Such a bold, chaotic, energetic and intense performance! They clapped and blew enthusiastic air kisses at the end, giggling and kicking their feet.

When the princess passed by their table after her performance, they flagged her down to provide encouragement along with a generous tip. "That was so much fun, what a way to kick off the evening! You should do this sort of thing more often!"

Angel Dust (@eccentricity-en-personae) knocking 'em all dead in itself wasn't much of a surprise, but it was clear as day that this kind of performance was something he thoroughly enjoyed. The audience was so enthralled one could have heard a pin drop if it hadn't been for the music. The sketch of Angel re-emerging from the smoke ended up one of the more detailed ones on the page and a strong contender for being turned into an actual painting.

"Sorry, babydoll, I think you dropped this," they drawled as Angel walked past them and handed him a decent tip with a playful wink. On top of the notes sat a small heart-shaped brooch made of what looked like carved bone.

They whistled shamelessly at Lucifer (@theserpnt) when he re-took the stage in an unapologetically pink dress to announce the first raffle winner. Damn, that was a lot of beelzejuice! Speaking of which, their glass was already empty. With a sigh, they joined the throng at the bar. "Well, this is delightful so far," they commented to the person behind them.

Dale wasn't sure what he had expected from this, but it certainly wasn't what the first two performances had delivered.

He almost hadn't recognised Princess Morningstar (@princessxmorningstar) in that get-up and that absolutely unhinged rendition of an already disturbing song seemed entirely unlike what little he'd seen of her so far. He couldn't decide whether to be impressed or concerned, but ended up slipping her a few notes as a tip the way a grandparent sneaks their grandchild money at the first opportunity that presented itself.

No one could convince him that the other performer (@eccentricity-en-personae) wasn't a pro at what they were doing. It was probably for the best not to look too closely into whether it was the crowd in a confined space, the lighting equipment or the performance, but at some point it became so hot that Dale had to shed his suit jacket and loosen his tie a little to avoid melting on the spot. When Lucifer came back on stage - in a dress that suited him perplexingly well - he excused himself from the table to fetch himself another brandy, but also a large glass of water with ice and a slice of lemon. "That was spellbinding!" he commented as he passed the performer on the way, offering several notes with a polite bow.

Quite a few people had assembled at the bar by the time Dale got there. The performances and drinks had put the crowd in a good mood, there was a lot of laughing and chatting. This... wasn't so bad. He put his empty glass on the counter and relayed his order to the bartender, occasionally glancing back at the stage to make sure he wasn't missing the start of the next performance.

Amber had to subtly extract herself from the last virtual work meeting of the day get ready and make it downstairs in time. Other residents had talked about their big plans and outfit choices for the night and she had a feeling that even though she'd try to make an effort herself, she'd end up terribly underdressed.

The hare sinner arrived just as Lucifer made his announcement and quietly snuck to the bar to pick up a negroni as her first drink. She spotted Laz sitting next to what looked like another succubus at the far end of the room. Great to see the hotel being this inclusive. She even spotted at least two halos!

Dressed in a sage green blouse with puffed sleeves, a patterned warm orange linen scarf serving as a tie and a pair of brown, pleated pants, Amber was neither in drag nor dressed particularly formally, but much more nicely than her usual dark hoodie and joggers combo.

She opted to remain standing near the bar for a bit, having spent much of her day sitting for work already. There were still a good few free seats so she wasn't in a particular rush to find a chair just yet. Taking a step back to set her glass down on the bar counter, she accidentally bumped into someone else she hadn't noticed standing behind her. "Oh, apologies, my bad!"

Despite having an invite, Laz had snuck into the lobby with a bit of apprehension. Thankfully, no one had seemed particularly fussed about them being a succubus, probably because there were at least two visitors from Heaven present. They'd done their best not to gawk as they passed them on the way to the bar and picked up a piña colada as their first drink for the night.

Dressed in a blue sequined halterneck waistcoat and floaty chiffon pants in a similar colour, they hurried to find themselves a seat just as Lucifer kicked off the evening. Why did he seem so nervous? Oh, the poor chap was probably horribly out of practice!

They spotted a free chair and made a beeline for it. "Sorry darling, is this seat taken? You look absolutely fabulous, by the way!"

Despite Dale's protestations, Mauve had insisted on at least accompanying him to the venue, if only to keep him company during the taxi ride and walk him to the door. She was, after all, the embassy's security. When her appearance had started to turn a few heads despite her civilian outfit, he'd urged her to go home and enjoy her evening, assuring her once again that he was going to be just fine.

With a heavy sigh, the sheep cherub settled into his seat, a glass of brandy in front of him. He'd managed to send the raffle form back and acquire a bit of cash for tips and maybe even an additional drink.

Quite a few guests seemed to have joined the performers on stage in dressing in drag. He himself was wearing a lavender suit, with a cream waistcoat, tie and pocket square as accents. Maybe a little too formal for the occasion, but he wanted to make sure to leave a good impression. You never knew who you'd end up striking up a conversation with.

So this was Lucifer, the King of Hell? Bumbling his way through what should have been a simple, crisp greeting and announcement? Oh dear. He chuckled a little as he took a sip. Noticing movement just outside his field of vision, he turned his head and readjusted his glasses.

"Ah, good evening! This is promising to become a rather quaint affair, isn't it?"
