the beginning of everything| andromeda & ted | 7-2-1976
School had ended a week ago, the last schooling Andromeda would ever see and here she was sitting in the parlor with tea already discussing her impending marriage that would take place before the end of Summer. She had known about the marriage for years now, just she hadn’t expected it to happen so soon after graduation. Lucius wasn’t horrible to her, he was the perfect fiancé on paper. He was polite, friendly, and never pushed past her boundaries. His kisses were just the same, almost calculated in their presence. Andromeda knew their life together would be the same, that she’d be perfectly content in her title as Mrs. Malfoy.
Listening halfheartedly to her Mother talk about what music the band should play she suddenly felt short of breath. Her heart clenched in her chest as she realised she’d never feel the same sort of excitement and fluttering in her stomach as she did whenever she saw Ted. Years of trying to force herself to ignore him hadn’t even put a dent in her feelings for him. Instead she held a secret flame for him, one that demanded to be fed with glimpses of him. Hastily excusing herself she slowly walked out of the room, closing the door behind her before breaking into a run.
Once enclosed in her bedroom she looked over at herself in the mirror, smiling at the image she saw. She looked alive, her face was flushed, and her eyes sparkling. Without a second thought she apparated out landing in a quiet hallway. In front of her was a mustard yellow door and a grin came to her face at the color. It was a sign, she was sure of it. A sign that this was meant to be. Taking a deep breath she raised her hand and rapped on the door praying Ted would be home. She had to see him this one last time. If she could just have one moment more with him she'd be able to survive a lifetime without him.
