OOC: So, this has been added to my muse's about page. I made a new AU verse for Malik that involves me also writing Yami Malik, because I wanted to give it a shot, and put my own spin on things. I've been thinking about doing this for a good year now, so here it is.
Duality of Darkness Verse
Post-Canon Verse - Basically, the events of the canon still happened, but instead of Yami Malik being banished forever in the Shadows, he was suppressed in the back of Malik’s mind instead. Because, as it turns out, Shadow Games cannot permanently get rid of a mental illness.
Malik fell into a depression after the events of Battle City. While he and his family were finally “free,” he was saddled with all of the guilt from his past actions, the trauma that came from learning that his other personality had killed his father, and the emptiness of learning about Yami Bakura’s death. Eventually, things came to a head, and slowly, from the darkness, Malik began to see hints of his other personality out of the corner of his eye. Then, he would hear faint laughter in the back of his head that wasn’t his own. Until, finally, Yami Malik spoke to him directly, taunting him that he returned because “Malik needed him.”
While Malik and his other personality still dislike each other, they have to learn how to co-exist in their shared space. Will they be able to work through their issues with each other? Only time will tell.
NOTE: In this verse, Yami Malik is completely and utterly mortal. He no longer has command of the Shadows because he lacks the Millennium Rod. He absolutely hates how weak and human he is and misses having so much power at his fingertips. He also now has fears of his own that he never had while he was around the last time. More about that will be revealed later.
