It seemed that at every step of her second pregnancy, Beth was finding out just how different it was to be pregnant in happy circumstances, rather than the devastation she had been going through when pregnant with Ellie. Although her pregnancy had been straight forward and relatively easy, it had always been tinged with some sadness, even though none of that was related to her baby. Beth had barely even told anyone she was pregnant, her mom had told the rest of the family and she was sure she had only told her closest friends, more so because she just hadn’t wanted to explain the rest of the situation to anyone else.
Standing in her kitchen, ultrasound picture in her back pocket, Beth was filled with excitement, just like she had been when she had first told Beau. Apart from him and Veronica, no one else knew and it was time to let someone else in on the secret before she announced it more generally.
Hearing the front door open, Beth held the familiar sound of Ellie running through the house, knowing exactly where her mother would be. “Mommy!” Grabbing the little girl around the waist, Beth lifted her up to give her a hug, pressing a kiss against her cheek before setting back on the ground. “Did you have fun with Uncle Sammy? Did you make him buy you a lot of ice cream?” The little blonde nodded, giggling as she ran back over to her uncle. “Uncle Sammy! Can you stay for dinner?” @samuel-dryden
