"This is something you need to do yourself, Lalanna. I'll find us a room at the inn in the meantime. Come find me when you're done."
"But--" Lalanna started to protest, but Benedict had already turned away. She had half a mind to take off her slipper and throw it at his head, but restrained herself. She knew he was right, and yet the sight of him walking away made her anxious.
No, she told herself, shaking her head. He's right. You have been preparing for this, Lalanna. This has been a long time coming.
Nearly two years, in fact. But now, perhaps, she could finally have the peace she had so longed for. She could have this damned Echo removed, or quieted, and she could return to Thavnair. Home, where she properly belonged. And perhaps...perhaps Benedict would like to come with her. If she badgered him just right, at least.
Feeling more motivated than ever, she took a deep breath and moved towards the building in question. The double doors led to the bar that she and Benedict had heard of, which as mildly buzzing with patrons; no one even seemed to notice her, aside from a bard in the corner that only shared a brief little smile.
She averted her gaze, holding her breath as she made her way straight across the room. What if someone stopped and questioned her? The possibility made her hands tremble, but suddenly she was touching the next set of doors -- and then past them. The doors shut a bit too quickly behind her, and she startled at the heavy clattering at her back. But the din of the bar faded but to a soft muffle, and again, no one came running to stop her. She waited for a breath before she continued down the flight of stairs, which led to a room that opened up and looked far more friendly. It even had another bar of its own, and sitting areas, and...storage?
But the room was empty. Somber, almost. For a moment, Lalanna worried that she had been led to yet another empty building. Was that why no one bothered to stop her? Was she just --
A door to her left creaked open, and a Lalafell woman emerged wearing the most endearing little yellow coat. It was almost a comforting sight!
"Ah, h-hello!" Lalanna greeted her nervously, offering what she hoped was an approachable smile. She gave a brief nod of her head before approaching. "I apologize for the intrusion, but I vas hoping to speak vith the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Minfilia, specifically! I am from Thavnair, I vas told she could assist me."
