CARRD | What To Know
& @eirlapideus
Save for the masochistic part of this character, this is the vibe of Lalanna's mother (that initial hair flip especially).
Darshana is a min-height Thavnairian Au Raa badass. She is part of the Radiant Host for a reason! And she is only ever so stern because she wants to protect her family.
@eirlapideus is still sorting out the details so I am not pushing too hard on backstory rewrites/adjustments yet on this blog. HOWEVER, Grey and I discussed the other day that. When Lalanna and Bened are cohabitating in the Black Shroud for roughly 1.5 years, Bened is still doing his Garlean work and she is clueless.
She sits at home or does little errands around Hyrstmill to help make ends meet. Bened is also out doing "errands" and oh, did he bring home a yummy dinner? Wow, he must have made a lot of gil doing stuff today!
He totally didn't take a meal from the campsite of someone he just assassinated!
And she's just happy to be kind of spoiled and kinda treated like a stay-at-home wife to be honest so she doesn't ask that many questions.
She really only asks him to train her because she gets BORED sitting at home and wants to venture out into the Shroud sometimes without being helpless.
Happy Moonfire Faire!
anyway Grey took pity on me and made a sideblog for Lalanna's mentor who doesn't-know-he's-her-boyfriend-yet @eirlapideus. His story is adjusting so I too will adjust/have deleted some older posts and will fix accordingly.
Borte laughed, but it was not because she found Lalanna's frustration humorous. No, it was so relatable that she could not help but laugh. Prior to being brought into the Scions, it was rare that anyone would ask her about her homeland, and a part of her had always found it somewhat offensive. Was the Azim Steppe not interesting enough for these people? They could not have been there themselves, what could they truly know? How could they not be even a little curious?
She offered the fellow Oronir a sympathetic smile and gestured for her to continue.
Her eyes widened in growing interest the more Lalanna shared ā she found the concept of the ground itself being purple to be incredibly fascinating in particular. It sounded like such a beautiful place, this Thavnair, and Borte found herself thinking she would like to see it for herself one day.
ā It sounds like an incredible place⦠It's no wonder you miss it so much. ā Borte said. ā What was it like? Looking after Katā Kadjaya's Footsteps? Was it hard work? ā
"Not at all!" She felt a little embarrassed to confess that her one task did not require much effort, but she wasn't about to lie. "I mainly helped by keeping the place clean. The most difficult part vas dodging the vandering beasts on the vay up there. But I oft rode one of our Hamsa birds there, and they did a good job avoiding danger on their own."
She sighed wistfully, her thoughts going to the twin scabbards strapped to her back.
"I did not used to fight back then. I had no need of such knowledge," she shook her head, brow pinching. "But traveling in this Eorzea is too dangerous not to learn."
Realizing now that talking of it had brought her comfort, she looked up at Borte, eager to return the favor.
"Ah, but tell me of the Steppe! I know a bit, but only from my father's memory. And he has not returned since he followed my mother back to Thavnair," she enthused. "And my brother is terrible at sharing any interesting details. How big is it? I can never get an idea of the scale -- is it larger than here, than Mor Dhona?"

"--Selena!" Damn it, if she was going to push Lalanna out of the way, why wouldn't she be quick enough to get herself out of the way as well? "Hang on!"
This wouldn't do. She couldn't let the teenager die -- not on her watch! She rushed back over, dodging swats from the tentacles of the enraged malboro, until she could grab hold of Selena's shirt. She yanked her back, the poor girl's body stiff from all of the poisons that the monster's bad breath had inflicted upon her.
"Stay back! Don't move, I'll finish it!"

Eulalia & Endymion
I am getting lazy and also cannot draw, but Eulalia's true form is similar to that of Yuna's Floral Fallal and Endymion's true form is similar to Payne's Full Throttle. And the twins would attach to each other like a weird fucking bug to fight.
Dymi is a mix of a millipede and praying mantis.
Eulalia is a mix fo a butterfly and spider.
Eulalia & Endymion: The Tragedy Of Poor Timing
After spending their entire childhoods together, Eulalia was sent to Akademia Anyder at age fifteen, which is around the time Endymion began to join his father at Pandaemonium. They were apart for a decade before being able to properly reunite... and six months after that reunion, the Final Days unfolded.
-
While attending Akademia Anyder, Eulalia had a crush on an upperclassman; unfortunately, he graduated before she could work up the nerve to speak with him. He also didn't really disclose where he was going after graduation, at least not from what she could snoop out. She had hoped to run into him in Elpis, but he wasn't there.
While working in Pandaemonium, Endymion developed feelings for a woman who worked as a messenger between the researchers in Elpis. Shortly after meeting her a few times, she perished at the hands of a wayward Creation that ran rampant and needed to be put down. This only pushed Endymion to be more protective, especially of his sister, and more dedicated to his position as as warder of Pandaemonium.
--
In the Source, Lalanna was conceived shortly after her parents arrived in Thavnair. A year later, her mother Darshana was pregnant again -- but miscarried while working for the Radiant Host. The soul of this child would have grown up to be the Source's shard of Endymion. Instead, two more years later, Darshana gave birth to Malachai, her younger brother [but not the same soul].
In the Fourth, Beetle had a little sister -- the Fourth's shard of Eulalia who perished in the events that led them to fall through a small rift and into the Source. [To be added to when we get more details in Evercold!] The trauma from all of this as well as general blunt force trauma from landing in the ocean by Limsa Lominsa affects Beetle's memory.
These twins' souls so far condemned to never truly spend their lives together finally managed to beat the odds when they found each other as part of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn in the Source.
In the World Unsundered, the creation of new life always had a process. It was expected, even normalized, for Ancients who wished to procreate to do so with a certain amount of control over their resulting offspring:
It was easier to raise a child with assistance, and so multiple Ancients (often but not limited to a pair) would work together to craft a youthful, little being that embodied their desires. It took time but it produced the exact results they embodied.
Some Ancients, however, found it more exciting to produce offspring in a more spontaneous manner. They would choose to combine their genetic material with one or more partners and choose a host to birth the child from their bodies physically. Such a process was viewed as strange and unsettling by many, but quaint by others. Inefficient but more unique -- for better or for worse.
The twins Eulalia and Endymion were a pair brought into existence through a natural birth, brought into the world by a pair of eccentric but brilliant Ancients who were thrilled to yield a "matching set" rather than a single child.
Achillus, a Warder in PandƦmonium, and his partner Pantocles, an Elpis researcher who specialized in protective wards, were ever-pushing each other to achieve more and more. This was reflected in how they raised their children to do the same. The twins, too, absorbed their parents' strong bond: always playing together and rarely spending any time apart, even in the presence of others.
Eulalia was a bright child who took to Creation magick quickly, embodying her parents' intense drive and desire to succeed. Endymion was more drawn to Pantocles' defensive magick, but also was encouraged by Achillus to follow in his footsteps and become a Keyward one day. This combination nurtured in him a very protective personality, well-suited to his future profession and also to looking after Eulalia.
The twins were inseparable -- until the day they were not. Eulalia attended Akadaemia Anyder, initially studying under the Words of Loghrif before switching to focus on the Words of Lahabrea. Endymion essentially followed his father Achillus to work one day and did not return home, learning the ins and outs of Pandaemonium. The twins were apart for the years Eulalia spent pursuing her education, which was extra long after she decided to switch her research focus. But finally, upon her graduation, she decided to take up a position in Elpis to be closer to her brother.
Eulalia's position was that of a caretaker of the creatures in Elpis, with her one crowning achievement being the creation of Petaloudas: butterfly-like creatures initially meant to act as messengers for short distances. She would often visit Endymion while he was at work, which wouldn't entirely be permitted save for him always being there to escort her.
The twins were beyond pleased to reunite and spent time with each other every day. But when the Final Days began to descend upon the star, Endymion shirked his duties at Pandaemonium to take his sister home to Amaurot to be with their parents. The two sadly perished together when fleeing from the monsters that assaulted the beautiful city.
