‘ wake up! wake up! ’ [Nate]
Everything was dark, and all Elena could hear was her oldest brother’s voice, but the words were nothing but a muffled blur. Her first attempt to open her eyes failed, her head pounding so badly it made her eyelids feel swollen, but then finally she peeled them open, blinking heavily before looking up at her brother. “Nate?” she groaned before trying to sit up, a hand instantly raising to her head. She couldn’t remember exactly what had happened, only that she had gone down.. hard. At the same time having Nate there lessened her confusion and left her with a sense of security, as though his simple presence made her feel safer. “Oh shit.. what happened?”
