Headcanons ::

- I know according to the wiki he's from Rochester, New York but there was a very notable Rochester State Hospital which was active right when it needed to be for Erik to be there, on top of him mentioning the Doctors right after the Rochester Line. I dunno this is more of a theory. He was there for outpatient classes, counseling, and daily life help.

- Erik has a mild to moderate intellectual disability. Improperly handled / diagnosed by Doctors.

- Erik always has a need to prove that he is, in fact useful. Living a life where he was always told if he didn't shape up, he would be shipped away. He did his best, really he did.

- Erik picked up the flyer, wanting to prove he could do something entirely on his own. His outpatient program let him, and when they realized he wasn't coming back, quietly closed his case to avoid speculation. Sealing Erik Ward away forever.
