Trying to catch the devil's herd,
Montgomery was a good boy from Tennessee. He loved his Mama and listened to his Papa. He always said his prayers and spent every Sunday morning at church. It was hard to pinpoint when he’d lost control of it. When he went from prayin’ to cursin. Losing his parents at 15 hadn’t been exactly what he’d wanted. He’d been left a reckless teenager with very little self-preservation. That’s how he met the famous Doc Hudson.
The man took him by the collar and lifted him out of his slump. He whipped him into shape and taught him to race cars like the best of them. It wasn’t long before he was Lightning McQueen the up and coming rook dominating the track. Doc became Dad and life was good...until it wasn’t. Doc got sick. The kind of sick that you didn’t recover from. He told Lightning to let him go but he’d always been a stubborn kid. When all else had failed him, he walked away from what he believed and found himself at a literal crossroads where he sold his soul for his mentor to be healed. Doc had been healed but died in a fire not long after that. Lightning had felt cheated and faced off against Mephisto and lost. He was bound to the Spirit of Vengeance Zarathos. With his supernatural powers, Lightning seeks vengeance as the "Ghost Rider". He’ll take the lives and souls of the wicked to protect the innocent.
across these endless skies.
Connections:
Francesco Bernoulli. He’d had the Italian figured out from the moment he met him. He had a face not much different than Lightning’s but he didn’t approve of the Punisher’s method of doing things. It was intriguing though that he’d looked the Rider in the eyes and seen his worst actions and hadn’t blinked. Lightning figured you couldn’t punish someone who was only protecting the innocent. It made the Rider bristle but it left Lightning wanting.
