⚖ - SCALES - how well they balance their good and bad impulses

Not well, but likely better than what should be expected of her. It’s very situational, but who she is around has a lot of effect on it. As much as Aryn can take the leader role if it’s needed of her, it’s not her preferred seat. She truly does shine best as a Second in Command, taking cue from those around her and filling in the necessary holes. 

She’s hot-headed and reckless, but with someone hot-headed and reckless that trumps her, she will often be a step back and try to fill in a more reasonable approach if needed. They cool her down. 

Vice versa if she’s with someone level-headed and actions need to be taken, she will step up and take the brute forward punishment if things need to get going. 

This is by no means perfect or controlled, just a generalization. So she is less able to control her own impulses as much as she reads a room and play off the impulses of others. 

Left to her own devices, she is not particularly great at it, especially with trauma and fear playing a big factor. Often then the bad impulses win out. Often time the bad impulses correlate heavier with survival and ruthlessness for it. Good impulses tend to only persist in quieter times when she is not feeling pressed, stressed or threatened. It leads to regrets, as she is not so thick-headed that she doesn’t understand the gravity of actions afterwards, but often then the time for correction is long past.

☢ - BIOHAZARD - the most dangerous thing about them to others

If she doesn’t like you. Blatant disregard for your safety.

If she does like you. Blatant disregard for her own safety.

Fighting a war she doesn’t belong in. Being part of the problem instead of the solution. All her best intentions turned around on her and somehow hurting herself and the people she cares about. The certainty that every decision they make is a mistake.

☠ - DEATH - the closest it’s come to touching their life

Lying on a surgery table for months on end that felt like years and being played with like a corpse. Her right hand and left arm melted off and paralyzed from the neck down, while her nerves were systematically picked apart for study. Before being put back together not to save her, but to ‘just see if they could’. 

All the while wishing that the beast that did it to her could have just had the decency to come rip out her throat after breaking her spine. It would have been the kind thing to do.

Two headcanon seems meme | Not currently accepting

1. The stealing, yes he stealing. After being in captivity so long and stripped of all forms of even the most minimal luxury and barely given the bare necessities, Aryn comes out of that with a lingering brewing survival of the fittest mentality, where if she has sticky fingers and isn’t caught, we’ll then the owner of wherever should have been paying more attention. It’s not something on Earth she’d have really done but now! Well, every man for themselves kinda thing.

She figures initially Vin is alright with that considering their robbing a guy to steal clothes and taking food and all that fun stuff they do right off the bat because they’re in dire straits. But once they are less hounded I feel like Vin’s fairly strict moral code comes back into play and Aryn’s sticky finger habit remains, which actually gets them into squabbles sometimes. Especially since Aryn’s always willing to share and Vin has eaten some of the nabbed goodies before she realizes that they are snatched from who knows what person or vendor.

Eventually Aryn is weened out of the habit to keep the peace and because Vin probably does actually make her feel guilty about it sometimes, and then she remembers ‘oh right, stealing is wrong’.That being said they both steal from and cheat the Empire at any chance they can get without it being too dangerous. Fuck those guys.

2. After quite some time and when there’s higher trust between the two of them, Aryn will occasionally ask Vin for the favour of helping her clean her spine prosthetic. I think the idea will occur to her when she at one point sees Vin very carefully and meticulously cleaning one of her guns. It’ll take a while for Aryn to build up the nerve for it. She normally has no problem with random declarations or questions but she is a lot more self conscious about her prostheses.

I imagine Aryn will find a place that sells the firearm cleaning tools and then purchase some to be specifically for that purpose and then ask a Vin quite awkwardly. Feeling just very… out of place about it all, but reasoning with the other woman that it’s one of the few things she can’t do herself. She’ll be quite nervous that Vin will give her one of her judgemental looks and just be like ‘ew, no’. One of the few times you’d ever see Aryn sheepish, when she hasn’t done something kinda shameful to deserve it.

Headcanon: Physique and Muscle Mass

So a lot of people know that proper diet and training regiments are very important to being fit, but one thing people know less is that sleep and rest is super important to recovery from muscle damage that occurs during intense workouts. And a good proper sleep cycle or even an exorbitant sleep schedule (up to 10 hours a night) can have a huge impact on muscle growth, maintenance and retention. 

Aryn has neither a good proper diet or sleep cycle during her incarceration with the Galra. One might think while being in a cell so long is prime real estate for sleeping, but it is short bursts of sleep, rarely deep sleep. Often plagued with bad dreams or time attempting to sleep but unable to because of stress. Stress which can reek havoc on a body on it’s own. Along with pain, soreness and often the body using resources for healing injuries.

Because of this Aryn actually loses a lot of superficial muscle mass during her captivity, which makes her a more wiry muscular body type. It helps some with agility but makes it harder for her to gain it back as readily afterwards. 

During her regular Earth life and in the non-cog Altean care, she retains a body type that has a thicker muscular form and is what she considers her ‘normal’.

Very old headcanon meme | Sorry for the wait

1. After they get to a stage where they are reasonable with each other, I imagine Haxus picks up on some quirks quickly enough, specifically on the sort of silences Aryn has. And as she is no stranger to talking and being chatty often enough, reading silences can be important and Haxus is an observant fucker.

The quiet focus silence tends to be harmless and oriented around her being focused on a task. The thinking silence tends to be when she’ll ignore him most. Have a far look in her eyes sometimes as she recedes into her own thoughts. Typically harmless, but can lead to volatility if disturbed at the wrong time.The contented silence. Rare but not always cause she’s in a good mood specifically, just generally that there’s a small bit of her that’s happy to not be alone at that time. Harmless.The ready to attack silence. This silence is why knowing them is important. Typically despite Aryn’s boisterous nature, when she is in a dangerous situation or one that has presented her with someone/something that pushes her over the edge, she goes dead silent. Witty banter does not come naturally like it usually does and her attention will be honed in on the target. This silence means an attack is pending. She’s going over her options, or trying to keep herself in control but she’s calculating how to strike. The unamused silence means a real, and potentially very serious action is coming. It will be fast and hard and if possible, when the target doesn’t have her in their direct attention. It will go for something critical like the throat if she means to do lasting damage. I feel Haxus would pick up on this quite quickly. Learn when to steer clear or intervene. Disrupting her concentration if it’s on a third party some times will give her pause.

2. I like to think that eventually (and I imagine it takes quite a while) they gain a weird affinity for the company the other grants. Both being lonely damaged idiots. In a way it’s easier to do with someone you hate cause they feel like they can always just go back to the hate. Whether or not that is actually possible depends on the person and/or actions in question at the time. But I imagine both worry on a quieter back of their minds level that it might not be so easy so they both nearly regard each other as weird pets. And maybe start making more ‘jokes’ about killing or hurting one another to sort of normalize the possibility while not actually being as insulting/threatening as it might have originally been. But some days when either of them are in a mood, the ‘not today’ qualifier might come up to warn of being to tired for the humour.

Try number 2. I lost my first version of this because I accidentally closed the app. Like an idiot.

Bonus one for context: Aryn calls Black Lion Bee because the first time she sits in the cockpit and goes for her first test flight she remarks that there is a low buzzing and him of her systems that reminds Aryn of the buzzing of the bees she’d hear on the porch at her family’s lake house.

1. Aryn has learned through accident that despite her sentience, Bee is still subject to instinctual predatory behaviour sometimes. The incident in question being an unexpectedly interrupted jog. Teaching Aryn that if Bee sees you running away and that drive kicks in, she WILL chase you and possibly pounce.

So to prevent this Aryn now tends to invite Bee on the hallway jogs and runs more on the spot at a slower pace while maintaining eye contact as well as she can until she’s out of Bee’s sight line.

2. Aryn has the unique ability to fall asleep anywhere at anytime. Even traditionally uncomfortable places and positions, because of her time with the Galra and sleeping on unpredictable schedules and awful hard slabs. She is starting to break that habit though with proper beds in the castle and a furry purring sleeping buddy sometimes in said bed.

Because of this, Aryn dozes off less at random around the castle, but it does mean that if Bee is lounging with her around the castle and cuddling and/or purring it could potentially lull Aryn to sleep at those times.

1. Aryn tends to have two main states in the Bitch verse a) very lethargic or b) whipped up into a frenzy. With a firm hand or firm words she can be calmed from the later. It tends to be from threat of military discipline, but Belost has the ability to get her attention with quieter and softer means.

Usually just saying her name suffices to cut through the mania she might be in, whether extreme anger or sorrow or delirium. And while she’ll still be pent up and stressed or enraged, she’ll take a moment to think and regard him for direction or insight on the situation at hand. Or at least take a second moment to consider if she’ll continue with her actions.

Generally you know if Belost is telling you to think before acting, you should really consider it.

Her expression will normally soften considerably and a tired calm will come back.

2. Because of Aryn’s bad memory/attention span to days on the regular, she has what is essentially and electronic white board on her wall for whenever Belost is away, she ticked it every morning he’s not back to keep track or the time he’s been away. 

It is Belost’s doing that when he is away, that there are pictures of him littered around the small quarters, so she won’t forget who he is while he’s gone. It only ever happened once early on, but now because of that, Aryn permits things to be taped up around the walls despite it being ‘disorderly’ which she is typically very against. 

Typically when he comes back though, all the pictures are re-taped in straight tidier rows.
