Ah, Ernest Adams. For more than 90 years, they were one of New Zealand's most beloved bakeries, making everything from slices and cakes to cookies and Christmas delights. For me, no Christmas was complete without gorging myself on their fruit mince pies every year, and nobody made them as good as Ernest Adams did. No morning tea, shared lunch, party, or pantry was complete without their delightful snacks and goodies.

The brand was discontinued by their parent company in mid-2022, and while some other companies have tried to recreate Ernest Adams' products, they're not quite the same as the original. I've begrudgingly had to accept other fruit mince pies at Christmastime, but none quite compare to the ones I grew up with. You never know what you've got 'til it's gone, I suppose.

And now I'm hungry.
