Most recognized plant of Thor. This tree is associated with many deities associated with thunder. They are used for food, wood, and tanning, all over the world. Cork is made from a type of oak. They symbolize strength, liberty, hospitality, bravery, abundance, will, protection, friendship, power, joy, life.

🧄garlic. (A. Sativum)

Garlic has been used for protection by multiple cultures and still is. It’s used in food and medicine.

🌱Ground ivy (g. Hederacea)

Gill over the ground

Low growing, trailing plant whose leaves can be used in tea.

Cretaegus aka þorn, white thorn, may tree,

As a thorny plant hawthorn is associated with Thor. He is a defender of Midgard and thorns are defensive. The rune þ is said to represent a hawthorn by some. This tree has underworld connections and the goodfolk are attracted to it.

Found a random Thor at a local market.

It was in the greenhouse separate from the Swedish themed gift shop.

Moved Thor’s spot because I work with him more often.

Limped my way around Royal Fern Nursery

Bought a book and some plants. A New England aster and a smooth oxeye. 🌼

The book has a bunch of fruit profiles, anecdotes, and recipes. It’s by a local author, Jay T Stratton. (he lives in Westfield and Rochester ny.) Most of the fruit are out of mainstream use.

Wasn’t expecting a wild Thor.

My new goal is to find a paw paw, Western Ny is the northern most part of thier range, they’re native to the Eastern US.

(Pamona is is a Roman goddess of fruit trees, orchards and gardens)
