Hair sticking to her face with sweat and moisture, Ember relaxed back in the tub. The amount of alcohol in her system probably wasn’t helping either. After wanting to escape another house party that Daniel was throwing, Ember had resigned to taking a bath - with Mattie. “I don’t understand how he doesn’t so often,” Her voice was gentle as she spoke, one finger drawing circles in the top of the water.  “I love a good party, don’t get me wrong. Just not this often.” She let out a small laugh.

💘  Valentine’s Day Prompts ~ Love Letter Starter  💘

Perhaps Ember could have had better timing, but she was so overwhelmingly nervous. Daniel and her were about to head to Toronto for two weeks to write and record some stuff for the next album. So for some reason she’d decided that now was the best time to write a letter to Mattie. At least if things went down like a lead balloon, not only was she away from the situation but she’d also have great inspiration for new music. She’d sent the letter with tracked delivery so when, in the waiting room for the jet, she got the notification to say that the letter had arrived - Her heart stopped. Daniel raised his an eyebrow and looked at her. “It arrived?” Ember nodded slowly and let out a breathe. “It arrived.” | @canthelps​

Hey Mattie - Look I know this is really lame but i just couldn’t bring myself to do it face to face. I’m sorry. Daniel & I are headed to Toronto for two weeks so there’s no rush to figure out what you thinking.

I know we haven’t exactly had a conventional beginning. You threw everything up into the air for me & I think you know that? It took some time for me to get everything back together but I think I do now. There’s still some stuff that I’m figuring out but one thing I know now is that I like you. I really like you a lot. You make me feel so much braver & inspired & great & there’s just a lot. I know you’re not really a relationshippy person so I get if this is a lot for  you. If I don’t hear from you, that’s okay. If I do, that’s okay too - I’m not completely uncontactable for two weeks. It’s just to write and record some stuff. Who knows - Maybe the outcome of this will help the next album. After tugging the hoodie down over her head, Ember crawled up the bed and then tucked herself in next to them. “I missed you,” she whispered gently. “A lot.” Ember lifted her head momentarily to look up at them, re-familiarising herself with their features. Ember’s life felt very different now. It was almost like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She was certainly nowhere near done coming out but she’d done the first one, and that was more than she could say about herself a couple of months ago. The music was tacky, loud but good nonetheless. She understood the reputation gay clubs had now. There really was no where else like them. Ember was with a group of friends. There was a smile on her face as she danced away. But then, mid spin, she spotted her face. Ember hadn’t seen the other in months. There was no denying that it was her though. After taking a breathe, Ember excused herself from her friendship group and made her way slowly through the crowd to Mattie. “Hi. It’s been a while.” | @canthelps​

Ember wasn’t particularly a fan of celebrity parties. They always ended up incredibly messy. If Daniel wasn’t heading to a girl’s place, Ember was having to babysit him and whichever girl he was bringing home with them until they headed to his room. So, during the parties she tended to keep to herself. Milling about in the corner, she watched as the celebrities that millions of people looked up to downed their drinks and chat shit. Then she spotted someone approach in the corner of her eye. “Sor--” Ember started. Their good looks caught her off guard though, her words catching in her  throat. “Sorry, I’m not being weird... I just like to stick to the edges of these things.” She eventually stuttered out. | @disapprcve​

“I mean,” Ember let out a huff. “At least neither of us are dealing with this alone, right?” Apparently fate wasn’t keen on Ember and her friend as they’d both recently come out of relationships - In fact, the break ups had happened literally within a day of each other. Ember had been preparing to visit her friend when her boyfriend had brought up the topic. They’d booked themselves a fancy brunch, with the need for a constantly flow on cakes at the top of the priority list.  Ember lifted a croquembouche to her mouth. “Cheers.” | @stoneceiling​
