Everly wouldn’t admit that she’d been waiting both nervously and eagerly for Simon’s return. She knew it was selfish, especially since he was saying goodbye to his sister, but it was hard to resist needing him now. She blamed herself for taking him from his freedom and family, it was hard not to when she was the reason he was leaving it all behind. However, there was a part of her that was... relieved. That she’d have him by her side as she walked back into the wolf’s den.

The apartment was still theirs, Judas had paid their rent during their absence without her knowing; another favour she owed the man. Paying rent, however, didn’t stop people from trashing the place and Eve stood awkwardly beside Simon in the open doorway. The furniture looked... fine, but glass and rubbish covered the floor. Everly wanted to sink to the floor and die, instead she laughed bitterly. She tried to smile, but the gesture looked more like a wince. “Uh... this is home sweet home. Welcome to Hedgestone...”
