CARTER, Margaret ( alias: Peggy )

“And shenanigans they were, ma’am,” Bucky offered her a kind smile, I’m sure he left all the good stories out. Most recently the time he used a garbage can lid as a shield,” he glanced down at his shoes, “Guess that much hasn’t changed about him, but I’m proud. Y’know? His outsides finally match the punk inside now.”
Bucky was about to insist, at least back to the camp just because of where they were. His mother would have reamed him just hearing about it if he let her go that easily, but she turned right as one of the 109th’s infantry men was coming up from behind her. There’s the clatter of glass as the man’s pint splashed down against the ground. The amber liquid soaks down the front of Peggy’s shirt, and Bucky’s dropping his jacket around her shoulders without a second thought. “Hey!” He snapped, stepping between Peggy and the stranger, grabbing him by the lapels of his jacket, “You gonna apologize to Agent Carter for recking her blouse?” Bucky gives him a rough shove back, sending him hard against the surface of the bar, “You’re one of Decker’s men, right? 109th? He was raised by his mom and I think he’ll have something to say about your complete lack of respect for women, let alone your commanding officers.” There’s a rushed and quiet apology from the stranger, and Bucky shook his head, turning back to Peggy.
He reached forward and fastened the highest button on the jacket so it covered the worst of the wet patches, “you know, some vinegar will take that stain right out,” he commented softly once the commotion had died down. Bucky stepped back, expression focused on her face. Then he flushed, “I uh... I have three sisters, grew up with just them and my mom, between that and runnin’ around after Stevie, I learned a thing or two about gettin’ stains out.” There’s another crash off on the other side of the bar, and he offered his elbow rather than his hand, “Let me at least get you back to camp so you don’t have to explain any more black eyes to Colonel Phillips.”
