Purple toed at one of the orchid flowers native to swamp biomes.

He’d confused some of the piglin brutes the other day; they hadn’t known what “blue” was, and in Purple’s opinion the warped forests weren’t the best example. The temperature of the colors in that biome was too warm, even if they were the closest the Nether ever got to “blue.”

(Not that the piglin brutes would even realize. They hardly left the bastion anymore.)

He crouched over the plant, waterlogged grasses dampening his knee.

May as well take some back to show them. He had time before the witch’s signal.

He hoped it was alright that he’d taken his eyes off the group for a bit.

He knew that the King’s contract with the witch had stipulated that the quintet not be harmed, and in all fairness, she hadn’t killed any of them. She was being just enough of a threat to keep them from thinking about anything but finding each other. As long as all five were kept in the area and no one was lost, though, all bets were off.

Purple caught himself before shuddering, and managed to convert the energy into a pinch of his fingers and a tug of his hand, pulling up a bunch of the bright, cool blue flowers.

Blue had been the lynchpin for this level of the scheme. He was the only one with any sort of reason to want to visit the Nether, so he was what they had to work with to draw the others out.

Purple had been skeptical about the potion-protégé being the designated damsel in distress of the mob who’s modus operandi was potions, but the King had been satisfied upon hearing the witch’s plan for how to keep her hostage subdued.

Purple had to work to suppress another shudder.

He tried not to think of what it might be like.

A transformation, not just physical, but mental. No perception of time passing, or of any physical world other than what was immediately in front. No awareness of other people that might be around. No presence of mind to move in any way other than to perform one specific task. Always reaching, never obtaining..
