The Minder || Nanao & Szayel

A new day had dawned and Nanao’s charge was nowhere to be found.
The day had begun just like any other, the same routine as always. The night servant has gone off duty as she had risen and things proceeded as they always did. However, as Nanao had gone to rouse him, it soon became clear that he wasn’t in his room. His bed was pristine, although missing a blanket or two and barely looked slept in, almost as if he’d made it himself rather than leaving it for the servents to do.Maybe he was bathing, she thought at first, or perhaps he’d been summoned by his brother and escorted to the meeting by one of the other servants. However, the more she searched, the more she picked up the unmistakeable odour of his scent, assuring her he had to be nearby. There was no reason for him to hide and if this was some kind of prank, if was far from funny. Nanao knew she wouldn’t want to be in his shoes when she finally caught up with him.
This was supposed to be a routine job - the same kind of thing she’d done hundreds of times for other alphas with omegas who need a firm hand and an eye keeping on them during their heats. It was a role she excelled at more than most betas and the brother of this particular omega was paying a small fortune to keep him out of trouble. These jobs were normaly straigtforward too, money for old rope even if it wasn’t exactly meaningful . After all, all Nanao had to do was watch her charge, keep him away from the alphas while he waited out his heat and report to his brother every so often. It should have been a walk in the park, if her charge hadn’t been so exceedingly difficult to deal with.
When taking the job, she’d been warned that her charge was more high strung then most, despite a keen mind and charming disposition. Subtle hints had been given, warning her about his temperment and suggestions he might not have the best sense of judgement when it came to alphas, but nothing she’d been overly concerned about. Weren’t most Omegas like that anyway? However, he was most certainly a special case, and after so many days maging his moods and whims, she turly felt as if she’d earned the money. Periods of good company were outweighed by behaviour that would have tried the patience of a saint and this sudden disapearance was just the icing on the cake.
The most likely places searched, Nanao gave up and made her way to the front room, serving as both lounge and home office. Her desk was there and her charge’s brother would need to be informed if he couldn’t be found. A report would need to be written, and now was a good a time as any to get it done.
The morning sun streamed through the large windows of the lounge as Nanao entered, bathing the large mahogany desk at the far end in dusty rays of light. She crossed the room at a fearsome pace, noticing how the chair had been pushed out from the desk, although she was certain that hadn’t been how she’d left it the day before. Her hand on the chair, she made to sit, only for her foot to make contact with something soft but firm all at the same time. Nanao frowned, knowing there’d been nothing under the desk the night before, and, wanting answers, began to kneel down, wondering what on earth was going on.
It was only as her eyes reached the footwell of the desk that everything became clear.
In truth, Nanao suppsoed she should have been grateful to have found him, however she wasn’t in the mood to be grateful. An expression mixed from relief and exasperation scowled down at the sruched up body; the mess of pink hair and yellow eyes thst peered sweetly up at her through the jumble of duvet and blankets, and wondered what the hell she was going to do with him.
“So, you’ve decided to build a nest,” the anger had gone out of her now that she’d found him, her tone very nearly exhausted as she summed up what she saw “ and out of all the closets and beds in this place, you choose to put it here?”
