I think I figured out why I always find myself relating to the tragic heroine. They long for love. That's all they ever want because it is something they've seen others get so easily yet they had never been given it themselves. They believe love to be a blessing. And eventually, for a short time, they finally get it; they are granted this blessing. But they are not allowed to keep it. They are cursed, condemned to loneliness. They can have people gathered 'round them but it doesn't mean a thing because they feel hollow inside after it transpires that this love they so desperately wanted either could never be, or could never last. So they turn to violence. The cruelty inflicted upon them, and the anger and frustrations latently brewing deep within them for so many years finally erupt into a fury never witnessed, inflicting this inescapable violence on themselves and/or on others. These heroines are labelled as mad. They were once delicate creatures who were crushed, and so, to survive, they had to rebuild themselves into what other people saw as monsters.

Violence is the only language they speak because it is the only thing they've known. But it was the actions of others towards them that caused it.
