Credo che sia uno dei luoghi che rappresenti perfettamente Roma in tutte le sue parti: negligenza, speranza, arroganza, condivisione. Mi è capitato di doverci passare delle ore ad aspettare di ritirare un bagaglio prima di partire. Vedevo perfettamente le persone dietro al muro di plexiglass incaricate della restituzione dei bagagli, dedite a conversazioni afone fra una sigaretta e l’altra, afone per via dell’interfono messo su off. Questa situazione paradossale ha creato un glitch interessante nella prossemica del luogo. Nessuno sapeva come reagire. Si è creata una stasi densissima, dove emergeva fortemente la “realtà" del reale. In poche altre situazioni mi sono concentrato sul mio lavoro come in quell’occasione.
Il file audio che ho scelto era ciò che stavo ascoltando in quel momento: alcuni suoni composti da Nicola Ratti, inseriti in seguito nel suo album Pressure Loss ed edito dall'etichetta Where to now? Vorrei dare più un suggerimento che una guida. Un’istruzione. Suggerisco di recarsi dinnanzi al plexiglass del deposito bagagli di Termini con quel file in loop in cuffia e semplicemente aspettare. Perdersi nella realtà ovattata di quel luogo.

I think that it is one of the places which fully represents Rome in all its components: negligence, hope, arrogance, sharing. Once, I happened to spend hours waiting to pick up a bag before a departure. I could see the people behind the plexiglass wall in charge of baggage return perfectly, devoted to unvoiced conversations between a cigarette and the other, unvoiced via intercom put off. This paradoxical situation created an interesting glitch in the proxemics of the place. No one knew how to react. A dense stasis was created, where only the “reality” of the real strongly emerged. In only a few other situations have I focused on my work like on that occasion.
The sound file that I have chosen was what I was listening to at the moment, some compound sounds by Nicola Ratti, later inserted into his album Pressure Loss and published by the label Where to now? I would like to give a suggestion rather than a guide. Education. I suggest going before the plexiglass luggage deposit at Termini with that file in loop on headphones and simply waiting. Get lost in the muffled reality of that place.
