"I've been thinking a lot about our date under the stars," Cooper hums, amusement evident in the way he wears his smile like a birthright. The evidence of his fascination for Billie wears itself honestly, a permanently flushed hue that adorns his freckled cheeks. There was never any sense in fighting his flustered demeanor, although it leaves him a touch bit anxious when caught under the glow of her tender gaze.

"I feel like I owe you something a little bit more extravagant," he confesses, a subtle frown that curves the ends of his lips. Leave it to Cooper to feel guilt over something so impromptu. A shrug pulls at his lean shoulders as he allows his gaze to fully surrender to hers. "I take first dates very seriously," he pauses, a hint of a playful smile that seeks solace upon his lips. "I'd like to prove that to you, for real this time."

The Founder’s Ball is completely packed and as graceful as Reina is, she can’t avoid being backed into the chest of a very large man, and her glass of champagne spills over as she whips around in surprise when the two of them collide. “Oh, Jesus Christ. I didn’t see you there.” No apology comes forth even though she’d clearly been the one to run into him, instead Reina just looks the man up and down as realization dawns on her that this is the man she’d once almost slept with on a drunken, lonely night a few years ago. What’s even more mortifying is that now that she’s sober, he looks much younger than she remembers.
