❝Fuck off.❞   The words are harsh.   Even as she gives Jimmy a shove against his chest,  it’s a playful one.  Her eyes are sparkling and she’s grinning wide.   ❝You know the only reason I’m letting this slide,  is so you stop buying coffee for my whole family every goddamn morning.❞   She crossed her arms,  glare turning dangerous as it falls on the new coffee pot,  and yet her eyes are still sparkling.

❝You do realise that there are trees in Chicago, right?❞  Delanie teased with a little shake of her head, lips pressed together as she takes in Fiona’s expression and body language.   ❝I like nature, I don’t know what’s so wrong about that.❞

Fiona grinned a little at her teasing.   ❝Of course.❞  She untucked her legs,  hands flying out in a shrug.   ❝Nothing.   There’s nothing wrong with that.   I’m just curious what you’re doing in your free time.   Is that okay?❞  It was in her nature to get a little bit defensive.

Fiona reached across to gently remove the piece of   a leaf  ???   from Delanie’s hair,  feeling a light pink heat covering his face.   Fiona Gallagher does not blush.   She bit her lip,  throwing whatever was in Delanie’s hair aside,  and then tucking the strand behind her ear.

A loud sigh escaped Fiona’s lips  --  a dramatic gesture to make sure that her aggravation was duly noted.    ❝Can we  NOT  do this today?   I don’t have the time to waste.❞   She said,  standing straight from where she had been slouched over the counter,  hands falling onto her hips.

Fiona couldn’t help the surprised reaction.   The man in her booth at Patsy’s was sporting a black eye,  and it looked  bad.

Fiona raised her eyebrows,  surprised to see Svetlana at the diner.  The two of them hadn’t had very many conversations,  despite the fact that Svetlana was somehow entangled within the lives of people that Fiona cared about.  That being said,  Fiona was always on the side of the people she cared about  --  particularly V.   And Fiona wasn’t a fan of people who betrayed her best friend.

Still,  she approached the table,  since she was the requested waitress.  Svetlana wasn’t someone that she wanted to cross,  especially seeing as she was a paying customer at the moment.  Hands fell on Fiona’s hips without thought.

❝May I help you?   --   Our special today is a bacon cheese burger.❞

Fiona put on her polite voice,  returning to the customer’s table with the coffee pot.  It was pretty slow in Patsy’s today.  She supposed being on the good side of a police officer was for the best.  She was trying to keep her shit together.  Tony had seemed to disappear off the face of the planet after her arrest.  It probably had some correlation.

❝More coffee,  Officer Chambler?   —  Pie?  We’ve got blackberry this month.❞  She suggested.  ❝It’s my favorite.❞
