Fun Polly fact!  Polly will claim to be from Kalos, and did so even before they struck the deal with Sacré to pretend to be an experiment in learning programming.  None of Polly’s family is actually very sure where they came from geographically.  At the time of their escape from the breeders’ they were more concerned with getting very far and very hidden, rather than making note of IP locations.

Are Porygon robots or AI?

Porygons are definitely categorized as AI.  They’re officially classified as a “virtual pokemon” which means their digitized state supersedes their solid, downloaded state when it comes to classification.  The first Porygon was conceived as coding before they put work into giving it a solid form, most likely because as an exploration device, getting all the technical workings of data gathering was most important.

If anything, Porygon might have been intended primarily as an on board AI to a vessel, rather than a scout.  Although its evolutions suggest that sending the pokemon off alone was definitely in the cards.

I had to sit and think about how I wanted to go about Polly being wild.  They were always going to be a Porygon piloting a human robot, but the option to have a trainer who had built the android was always there.  I felt like there were too many limitations there though, and it would be far less funny.  There’s no dumb game of, “Lol yeah, I’m totally human, I love breathing.”

Being a singular abandoned Porygon was also an option, but I don’t exactly know anyone who has actually abandoned a Porygon?  Generally you get one, max evo it, and it lives in your box forever.  I also don’t feel like breaking out of PC storage is truly an option, there would be steps taken against that.  I still don’t quite get how Alola’s system works in regards to that.

So, I went with the mill breeder option.  Having Polly and their siblings being breeder rejects means they are also 100% wild, as they escaped before they were put into capsules and thus tagged as owned.  I feel like even released pokemon still bare that OT data.  However, eggs don’t get put in capsules, so there’s that moment of time between hatching and being capsuled where baby pokemon are technically wild.

So Polly has no OT data.

Viscountess Julia is not Jeanette Sacré’s first automaton.  And while the Marie series of household helpers is set to be her latest, and her first mass-produced work, Sacré doesn’t plan on it being her last either.

Sacré’s very first creation was a rather simple rover that detected light levels.  It was an experiment in simplistic mechanical thought on her part, rather than any attempt at breaking new ground.  The rover would wheel itself around and adjust the solar panel on its back to collect the most light possible, and enter a power saving mode at night.  She never named it.

Her second creation was a rudimentary canine frame, designed to perform basic tricks on command.  This was later given away to a neighborhood child and she occasionally sees it for repairs and small requested upgrades on their birthday.

From there she had a few more in between projects that were either left incomplete when she solved a specific problem with them, inspiring something new, or else she had to leave them for work and later forgot where she was going with them.

Sacré’s first humanoid automaton though, would be Elise, a small, teenage female robot who was chair bound.  Her main function was to play board games, specifically chess, though Sacré also programmed in the rules for checkers, go, and Monopoly.  While she has the ability to move her arms, hands, head and eyes, Sacré never saw much point in giving her further mobility.  Likewise Elise was never given a unique voice like Julia or Marie would later get.

Elise speaks in sound clips that Sacré recorded of her own voice, and said voice is emitted via a speaker in her chest rather than through her mouth.  If you ever visit Sacré’s private home in Kalos, Elise can be found there.  From time to time Sacré will carry her to a new chair to sit in.

Complex movements and realism in humanoids would get worked on more when Sacré started on Julia, however, she got practice when making her Pikachu shell for her Rotom.  After that, Sacré also got a few jobs making robotic prosthetics.

Julia was made after that, a screaming, autonomous battler.  Sacré is very proud of her.  Marie is definitely more refined than Julia, and ideally Sacré wants to be able to make an android that is realistic by sight, sound, and touch.

...then she wants to put her brain in it and live forever.  Because honestly, who has the time to die?

After squinting loudly at a certain couple of pokemon and also an entire typing of pokemon, I’ve come to the conclusion that Polly will still register as a pokemon to pokeballs while they are integrated with tech. 

This is hilarious because the a big reason Polly stole this robot was because they assume it would keep them safe from this kind of thing.

How dare you suggest Polly’s eye bleeding sense of fashion isn’t perfect?  It’s like you don’t want to go blind every time Polly enters a room

👕 = Does your muse have a colour preference on their clothes? If so, what colour and why? 

BRIGHT.  Polly likes red, blue, and pink.  With yellow being their favorite non-Porygon color.  Polly likes neons especially.  The attractiveness is likely part of a want to stand out.  Everyone is going to recognize and avatar online that assaults you right in the oculars every time it shows up.  The clash of colors that Polly’s wardrobe is is more of a consequence of Polly not really understanding how to mesh things that aren’t a set. 

Online, clothing that matches comes with a handy set name.  Offline, you don’t have that.  And so Polly just sees something they like and assumes that because it was pretty alone, surely it will be pretty with these other things!  Which…is true.  To them.  They think they’re clothing is very pretty.

👗 = What kind of dress does your muse prefer? 

The poofy kind.  With lace and ribbons.  Or poofy and glittery.  For example Polly wore this dress in the VtM campaign they’re in.  This dress would also be acceptable, but really anything appropriately bright and poofy is A+.

👠 = Does your muse prefer high heels or no heels at all? 

Polly owns 2 pairs of hiking boots and 1 pair of rain boots.  Marie had heels on when Polly stole her, but they were quickly ditched.  I imagine Polly’s initial flight from the labs had more wobbling and careening into the walls than they’d like to say.  So…no.  No heels.

🌂 = How many layers of clothes does your muse prefer to wear in colder seasons? 

Answered longer here but the short answer is one.  One layer.  Honestly last winter was spent primarily in shorts, so there’s that.
