A GUIDE TO PROPHETIC ABILITIES.
visions as memory / dreams.
the majority of sabina’s visions appear to her as prophetic dreams. these are the most clear and least cryptic. often shown as lengthy scenes of conversations, battles, and other turning points. these cannot be controlled or prompted, but are often the most significant and happening nightly. they rarely need interpretation, but may lack overall context for them to be immediately useful. almost all of these visions are contained in journals until they become relevant.
her visions can also be memories that are triggered by sights, sounds, or smells. these are seen in the way that any memory is recalled, but requires sabina to notice that it is not hers. a skill that has taken many years to learn how to do. there are many memories, particularly from when she was a child, that she is not sure belong to her. this ability has become most destructive to her sense of self and degraded the ability to know what is true and what is not. any deciphered or questioned memories are also contained in journals, essentially as a guide to help determine what is truly hers.
conjuring visions.
besides her passive ways of seeing visions as dreams and memories, sabina has the ability to conjure them at will. this is generally done by touch, preferably of the specific person, but she can conjure less clear images from personal objects. there is no way to guarantee what she will see, but do tend to be of the future. small glimpses of conversations or scenes of the life they’re living in the future. however, these visions are much less clear and require some degree of interpretation. depending on who she is speaking with, she may make her own assumptions or even exaggerate what she is seeing. this is mainly to protect herself against the powerful or people who may otherwise try to shoot the messenger.
this ability is why she is called a fortune teller. something that sabina does not consider herself, nor does she particularly like. this is also the main reason why elites seek her out in any verse. unfortunately, this ability is also the most taxing on her body and the easiest to trigger the consequences of overuse.
out of body / possession
there are times when sabina’s abilities take over her consciousness and she loses the ability to control her own body. this can happen both awake and in dreams.
in her main verse, because she is a somniari, she has the ability to enter the fade at will. it is very rare for her to choose to enter the fade. it frightens her. she is fearful of becoming lost with no escape or running afoul of a demon. it is only under the most dire circumstances would she willingly choose to enter the fade and even then, there would be extreme reluctance. because she avoids the ability and has very little training, she will occasionally find herself conscious in the fade as she sleeps.
further, she has taken steps to make it appear as though this ability is simply rumor. that she was first thought to be a somniari, but that it was found to be false. she is extremely fearful of what would happen if it was known that she possessed the ability, especially by magisters. realistically, the only people who know is the current archon and her family
in non-dragon age verses, she is a dreamwalker. possessing the ability to enter and see other people’s dreams and possibly control them.
through a particularly strong trigger of a memory or through conjuring, sabina has completely dissociated from her body and become lost in the vision. internally, she is seeing the images as they usually appear, but physically her body is either locked into stillness or speaking aloud the conversations she is hearing. this is rare with no known warnings or means of prevention.
overuse / side effects.
the main side effect of regular use is headaches, eye pain, and fatigue. her daily headaches range from minor to mild, but are very constant, especially at the end of the day. this is usually accompanied by throbbing pain behind both of her eyes. the only consistent way to relieve these are by either closing her eyes or sitting in darkness. she has also found that keeping any lights in her main living or working area low helps manage the pain. these pains are unavoidable and can only be managed but not prevented.
she finds fatigue the hardest to manage of her daily side effects. her sleep is rarely restful and oftentimes she wakes up sore, like she had been moving throughout the night. conjuring visions, even without overuse, is tiring. and if she is required to attend events and read fortunes, she will usually disappear for days afterwards to recover. mainly by sleeping as much as possible and being in dark, silent rooms.
overuse, generally through the continual conjuring of visions gives her severe, chronic nosebleeds and blinding migraines. these nosebleeds range from slight dripping as a warning to overwhelming bleeding that is hard to stop. accompanying the nosebleeds are severe migraines. they are usually blinding and very sensitive to light and sound. they tend to last several hours, but have occasionally lasted several days. both the nosebleeds and migraine are her body’s warning that she is overextending herself and needs to stop.
the most severe side effects are seizures. sabina has experienced these less than a handful of times in her life. these fits generally last less than a minute, but violently wrack her body. only happening if she has stretched her ability past its limits.

the only warning i can give is : he's a freak . so read at your own discretion & all that .
Thinking about reputation and rumors again so here's a nothing post about the reputation of the hatake clan in the land of fire and then also Kakashi's reputation specifically just because I think it's awesome when rumors do their thing. under readmore for length, i love writing long bullshit posts for no reason
The Hatake in the land of Fire were viewed as largely self-reliant outsiders of dwindling numbers by the conclusion of the warring states era, though they were still a fairly substantial clan by the time the village was founded. They were viewed as a vaguely frightening people with strange rituals, alleged to partake in a great deal of ritual cannibalism as well as regular cannibalism, and were likely most infamous (and reviled) for the desecration of enemy corpses (as well as the corpses of their own, according to some).
Opinion of the Hatake shifts slightly after the formation of the village, though rumors of cannibalism persist even after it's officially banned as a practice by Hatake Hisoka, the clan matriarch. The Hatake were believed to be extremely valuable soldiers because of their heightened senses, their speed, and (in the eyes of village leadership) their natural inclination towards subservience (I could write an essay on the phrasing of this but I will spare you on this post).
Most of the Hatake have died or married out by the time Kakashi is born, and once Sakumo is disgraced, there are none left at all except for Kakashi and his father. Rumors about Sakumo include the obvious, like he screwed up the mission on purpose because he's secretly an Iwa plant, or because he wanted to prove himself worthy of the Hokage hat with another war, along with the most popular narrative which is of course that he was not loyal enough to the village and thus his poor leadership on an assignment kicked off the third war. After his disgrace and before his suicide, rumors of cannibalism once more reared their ugly heads, as Sakumo's ritual desecration of enemy combatant corpses was looked at in a newer, more malicious light. Many, MANY people spread rumors about him kidnapping and eating any missing persons. There was speculation about his relationship with his wife, his relationship with all of the Sannin, his relationship with anyone that would still associate with him without scorn (thus further encouraging his and Kakashi's social isolation).
After Sakumo's suicide, many eyes turned upon Kakashi, newly minted genin at five- "too good" to go to the academy with the rest of the children, carrying the sullied hatake name and all the baggage that came with it, boy genius, little more than a wild animal that could talk according to some. As Kakashi aged, his reputation for ruthlessness (and "talking back" against bad or foolish orders) grew. After Obito died, there were rumors that he killed him and stole his sharingan- marking him as a doujutsu thief. After Rin died, there were rumors that he'd snapped and killed her, rumors that he'd snapped and killed everyone around after they'd killed her, rumors that he'd killed her and then snapped and killed everyone around, rumors that they were lovers, rumors that she finally confronted him about obito's eye, etc.
He largely fell out of the public eye during the period where Minato had him working as Kushina's guard, but after the Kyuubi attack he went to work with regular ANBU teams and got a reputation for being difficult to work with, prone to fighting teammates, and more than kind of a basket case. Once he gets put on solo missions, these rumors somehow get even worse. People ask not to be put on teams with him because of some of the rumors. After the formation of team Ro, with Kakashi as their leader, this reputation starts to turn around and quickly- team Ro has the lowest fatality/casualty rate in black operations throughout its entire run. Kakashi takes on a fair amount of training duties for rookie ANBU operators, and among those he trained he gains a somewhat legendary status as someone who will fight tooth and nail to bring everyone on his team back alive, though this reputation stays largely within the ANBU ranks due to the secretive nature of their work. During this period Kakashi's reputation outside of ANBU only suffers because he won't stop fighting people (and getting arrested several times for it).
Once he washes out of ANBU, rumors start circulating that it was for psychological reasons, though those don't stick because most people remember Cat and Lynx dragging him into the hospital more than half dead on an assignment. During his convalescence he starts curating a reputation for himself for once, albeit hardly a positive one: Hatake Kakashi reads porn in public, Hatake Kakashi is unbelievably rude, Hatake Kakashi is a hardass with no patience or people skills, Hatake Kakashi is carrying on an affair with a married woman ( @halfhyuuga ), he cruelly broke up with Gai and crushed his heart ( @lvyeshou ).
There are all kinds of rumors circulating about him at any given time. He's sleeping with so and so (people are obsessed with his love life for some reason...), he's been disrespecting such and such council member for x or y reason, he's endangering his genin team, he's still reading porn in public. He's trying to gain power and clout by training the last Uchiha and the Jinchuriki. People will still occasionally bring up the cannibalism thing but it's less widely thrown around since he's so much farther in the public eye than he had been.
Long and short of it, Kakashi:
will never not throw hands
is cold blooded and willing to kill anyone to get ahead
comes from a clan of crazy cannibals and could snap any day
no emotions, perfect shinobi
sleeps around
If you're more than like 10 years older than him you are part of the generation that hates his fucking guts, and if you're 0-10 years older than him you probably think he's generally an asshole but within acceptable ranges of strangeness (unless you believe the rumor that he broke poor Gai's heart lol), and if you're younger than him you've probably heard your parents talking about him and think he sounds either cool as fuck or kind of scary.
As he ages the severity of the rumors decrease, in part because he is trying to carefully manage his reputation, and in part because the generation that blamed Sakumo for all that or remembered any Hatake in general start to die out and are replaced with peers or kids that look up to him (for some reason). Kakashi was never at a point where he had the social or political capital to effectively bring down Danzo, or drag him and his co-conspirators into the light- his reputation didn't really take a turn for the good until after Tsunade became Hokage, and during the war his conduct as a general was widely regarded as cool-headed, fair, and effective.
Post-war, um. Hoo boy. There are rumors that he's banging the Mizukage ( @godmist ), rumors that he's pining after Gai, rumors that he's going after Danzo's former associates and prosecuting them because he's consolidating power, rumors about why he's consolidating power, rumors about the relationship between him and Sasuke, rumors about the relationship between him and Naruto, rumors about the relationship between him and Sakura, etc.
Thank fuck he's only Hokage for like five years before he mysteriously retires and is largely out of the public eye. Retiring is the best thing that ever happened to him.
Lestat wants to drain Timothée Chalamet after he shit talked opera and ballet and theater in general.
And if I said he's the youngest out of eight brothers, what then? His dad was always disappointed in him. His mama always babyed him despite it, and at least one of them was nice to him; the others tossed him around like a football. They'd all protect him, of course, if anything happened, but it was a lot of toxic masculinity in the household.
it is not pleasant being healed by Joshua. the worse off someone is, the more the healing hurts.
